No it's not some alternate world within Narnia It is my collection of tat fixing and storage facilities ;D They are all in a mess but I am getting fed up with that so am on a tidy up and make useful session. The Garage is at the back of the house, one of the first things I did when we bought the house was build this It's about 13x20 so a big single garage not quite double . Electrickery comes from the house via overhead cable. It does get a bit wet at the back as it is underground to about 7'. Pitched roof for storage Somthing like this inside although currently occupied by a Triumph.. The Cowshed is an open fronted storage area which will take 6 cars with ease + 2 outside but I have the Imp and Rebel inside with loads of tat and my trailer and scrap disco outside. Recently had a traveller visit and as I have had stuff go missing before I had a moan at the landlord and I am now able to put up some gates to hide my bit away The gates Lastly is The Barn. My parents bought it years ago as a workshop/storage barn from a local builder. No electric and a mud floor But several days digging up cobbles and mud left with a hole that concrete filled quite nicely I used it to do various jobs and store tat but had to run a genny for power. A while back dad decided he was going to use it as a workshop and went and paid for power to be put in, 4k later we have a nice 3phase supply. Thanks to mysterymachine for the sounds Being a building of 200 odd years old it does have its issues But it does serve a purpose ;D veg oil anyone All 3 need a real good tidy but that is happening now so with any luck I can do more to my cars and keep them happier ;D

went down to the cowshed yesterday to start putting up gates that the landlord has said ok to....
Just started drilling the second hole, hole number 2 that is, and the landlords ole chap sticks his head over the wall and yells "you gonna be long?"
What's he want me to do? stick em up with 'kin chewing gum!!!!!!
Rang landlord just to make sure it really is ok to put gates up and he said he will call his ole man and see what the problem is, turns out he is just a grumpy git!!!

had a job to do for work so called into the barn We have some large jigs for painting on at work, 3m long near 2m high + wide on 4 steel castors. They get filled with painted items and pushed in and out of the ovens. Doing this means they pick up paint on the wheels which breaks off randomly meaning square wheels that rattle the jigs and the items we just painted can fall off soooo My idea is to make the wheels pointed in the middle so the paint can be pushed out sideways when hot and soft and the higher pressure on the centre ridge should break the paint off when cold and hard First job was to mount the wheels in the lathe. I made a mandrel out of some steel bar, turned the end down so the wheel slide on but leaving it over hanging, a 12mm thread was put in the end, aftera 10mm stripped to easy as it wouldn't hold tight enough. The wheel was then put on and bolted up using suitable spacers. Wheels could then be spun up and metal removed ;D The finished wheels Just got to get 5mins at work to fit them and see if they work

Today was a gate hanging day at the cowshed. Cut the posts at the barn and welded, drilled some bracketry at home so it should be easy had to step the post to get over the cladding on this side This side had to have a post screwed to the wall and then the main post screwed to that as the roof overhangs the wall, I put a small lead sheet in the cut away for the roof so water does not go straight into the post. The first two gates, hung, left one has since been dropped a bit after reducing the size of a concrete gutter on the floor The gap is going to be a pedestrian gate so the third big gate was cut down to size. After removing the shiplap panels Cut in half I cut all the cross brace in half length ways removing opposit halves on each side of the gate so they could be screwed together, this method was easier than trying to dismantle the original joints. shows up well on the bottom of this pic Back together All doors now hung but ommitted to take a pic!! Need to get padlocks and will return

Well i started the prep for the move today. I purchased a 4 ton turfer winch, 2 lifting straps and a s/h pallet truck I also purchased some timber, 4x4 posts and a sheet of 18mm ply. who needs a roof rack I got it all back to the shop and set about making a pallet to bolt the mill to. made some steel runners for the bottom, note the deep csk holes so the screw heads are protected Using my handy mobile work bench I cut the ply to size I cut the posts to length and screwed them on the bottom of a double layer of ply and then screwed the steel runners on I will put D shackles in the holes to attach the slings to and then winch from the pallet so it wont pull the mill over. I have also put together a selection of timber to make a sturdy ramp for the trailer, along with ratchet straps and some tools of useful possibilities. The plan is to carefully lift the mill onto the pallet and the use the pallet truck to get to the trailer, winch the mill onto the trailer, drive home and reverse the process
