Not exactly the regular Retro Rides car admittedly, but I thought that a) it might be interesting enough for the mods not to lock the ad and b) that someone on here might have a big pile or cash (or know someone who does) to spend on such a car.
So, it's not my 911, but belongs to a friend. I've known the car for a long time and it's immaculate, with extremely well-executed modifications. He's sent me a list of spec, as follows:
Base Car – 2001(51) Porsche 911 (996) Turbo
- Power boosted from 420HP to 542HP
- TECHART Power Kit 096/T2
- TECHART Sport Exhaust System with black chromed quad exhaust tips
- Top speed: 201mph, 0-62mph: 3.8 sec, 0-100mph: 8.3 sec
- Original equipment Turbo ‘S’ Suspension kit
- TECHART Formula GTS 19” Wheels fitted with ContiSportContact II Tyres
- Full wheel alignment
- All brake discs and pads replaced
- All gaskets, sealing rings, hoses, filters, spark plugs, oil, brake fluid, heat shields etc replaced
- TECHART Short shift gear lever and leather gaiter
- Original Porsche Tequipment Turbo Aerokit
- Modified lightweight engine lid
- Fixed rear wing incorporating third brake light
- Colour-coded extended front lip
- Becker Cascade Pro 7941 Navigation Audio Kit Including Bluetooth Telephone, direct input iPod Ready
Total cost of upgrades around £30K.
There you go. He bought it for £46k (a standard Turbo of that age/mileage would probably be between £25-30k now) and spent £30k turning it into a badass 200mph+ road racer.
It's surprisingly civilised too - he commutes to our London office in it every day, and we've got some pretty agressive cobblestones and speedbumps!
At £35k, it's a hell of a lot of car for the money. I know that he's open to offers, and is looking to replace it with something rapid 'that I can fit a golf bag in, and that I can get out of without straining my back'.
