Bit blandBut comfy enough to get on the motorway every day, plus the odd longer run to Skoda club events. Plus plenty of room to stretch out, and scope for "improvement". Shame it wasn't a 4x4 though. Hopefully I'll get to collect Monday.

Minicab? I sincerely hope you're going to get cracking building some snarling 70's beast for weekend use? Otherwise this purchase is the biggest cop-out ever.

It is a cop out. I don't have room to even really work on a fiat 126 as a second car. I think it has been a rep mobile rather than a mini cab. My brother had a white 1.9 TDi that was a finance snatchback from auction. It was a year newer, and in 3 years it had don't 196k miles. It was getting serviced every month nearly.
I really did want to get a full on retro wagon this time. Something J would have been ideal, as they tend to be more reliable, and the chav mob haven't tried to destroy them all yet. But it wasn't to be. Still, lets say I have invested in a future retro classic.
I sincerely would love to have a second car, something I could take to bits and learn things, saf in the knowledge that If I don't get the cylinder head back on by Sunday teatime, I can still go to work on Monday morning easily.

Looks good mate..and the price is good too, glad to see you chose a cool badge! There was no doubt. If a really good rapid with some tax and ticket was to come up I would have snatched it. As it was, I was hunting for a late as possible Felicia but it turns out, I've got a bigger car, with a bigger motor, and the right badge at the same age, for just £500 more. And It hasn't cost me any more than I sold the Saab for.

Don't you just hate stupid people. I bid on an auction because it takes paypal and it is a bank holiday, so getting readies can be tricky. The auction ends after the morning banking hours on Saturday. You win. you paypal the cash. You plan to pick the car up 2 days later because it is nice free bank holiday. next day you get 2 emails. 1) Sorry, my dad doesn't have paypal and it is his car. I will return payment. ring to arrange pickup. <mobile number removed> 10 minutes later. 2) Hi, there is no payment in my paypal, and I don't have an email. It is sitting unclaimed, she should need to accept of reject it. So now I'm shagged for transport to work this week.

In all fairness to the seller, the payment terms at the bottom do say 'cash on collection'. OK, so they still had the 'paypal' option available at check-out, but maybe they forgot to 'switch it off'. I'd have checked first

True, it looks like they offer both. If I had waited to get a reply, I would probably have missed the auction, because I wouldn't have bid at all until it was confirmed.
I wasn't looking for an octavia, so I didn't spot it until about 30 mins to go.

Looking at the listing again. It did clearly state in the payment instructions cash, buyer collects. But in payment methods it said, "paypal first, then postal orders or bankers draft". I took that to read Cash/Postal orders/bankers draft, if paying on collection, or paypal in advance, but she wouldn't deliver.
