Recently there has been a few little problems with RR, namely blank screens and sections of threads missing (quick post box in the Volga thread)
Well i have just had AVG telling me that it stopped a virus on RR, which i found strange as no adverts have been showing (pop up blocker).
Has anybody else had this problem?

Yes! I just tried replying to that very same Volga thread, which prompted me to come looking to see if anyone else knew about it.
I had to quote SOC to be able to reply, and I'm not even sure if I did or not, forum says I did but the posts not there.

My computer just sent out a random link email to most of my address book. Maybe thats whats picked up here I'm guessing thats from hotmail? I've had that happen and despite having a regularly virus checked PC, up to date software and also being sensible with not opening dodgy sites it still happened. My only guess is that (at least for me) it was done by brute force as my password was not that strong :/ See here for a guide to 'brute force' password strength: www.lockdown.co.uk/?pg=combiIf you also keep your anti virus up to date then I think it would be a red herring that a pop up from this site said a virus and that happened to you.

I think Proboards had problems a while back with viruses regarding the ads, I wonder if this is part of the same problem? Proboards kept having to disable all advertising until the problem was resolved.
I've not had any alerts or problems myself.

The hotmail email thing means a quick change of password is needed (or they'll just login again and send more). I'd suggest something complex along the lines of a mini sentance: Eg: Ilove1975retros!

Hi had something weird happen this morning on my work PC. I visited yahoomail then retrorides, when I got to retrorides my AVG virus guard kicked in. My IE8 had been hijacked and proceeded to infect almost every HTML file on my PC with a VBS virus and tried it's very hardest to overwrite all exe's and dll's with infected versions with the same name. I realised IE was doing it and killed it before it wiped out my windows folder.
I'm running up to date versions of AVG and spybot but because it took control of IE they didn't pick it up until it had started changing something. 2200 infected items were removed by AVG I then scanned did a full spybot scan and doubled up with a different virus scanner and I think it's gone and didn't have a chance to install the trojan. I think it picked a hole in my IE8 as I'd just installed it the day before and hadn't run updates on it. Microsoft don't seem to mind releasing software with big security holes in it. I'm about 70% sure it was downloaded or triggered from retro rides. I'd be interested to see if anyone else has had similiar problems.
