I'm not looking for a ferrari to appear on the freecycle lists.
But Loot lists nothing vaguely interesting within 20 miles.
Autotrader seems to exclude warrington totally. Put in any make, any model, sub £1000 and nothing within 10 miles appears.
Wednesday, there were loads of 924's arround, closest 9 miles, cheapest £675 (not saying I would buy it). Thursday, 2 cars, closest 30 miles, cheapest £2100.
No decent Alfa 145's Only two Alfa 155s and they were both above my budget. Lots of overpriced underspecced, bad condition wrecks but very little that appears worthy of 1/2 drive for a look.

I can't be fussed with autotrader now - seems to inflate the prices somehow, or the car you do like has sold because someone got to the shop about 10 seconds before you did. Ebay, Friday ads & Loot are where I usually look, or classic/retro mags

No rush though is there, so much potential out there, so many to adopt. if i had the squids id add a good few to the fleet. Has the Saab gone now? what sort of thing are you looking for?

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

No rush though is there, so much potential out there, so many to adopt. if i had the squids id add a good few to the fleet. Has the Saab gone now? what sort of thing are you looking for? There is a rush. The Saab gets picked up Sunday. The balance gets paid by Paypal Sunday. I'm back at work tuesday, and need something cheap enough to pay for cash. But it has to be solid enough, comfortable enough, but quick enough to be useable on the motorway. Anything with stupid insurance or single figure fuel consumption is out. And if it can't fit in a single parking space along the kerb, it is no good either. So no mercs, no big cheap beemers or range rovers. I really don't know what I want. I had my heart set on a late model Skoda Felicia with as best spec as possible. Could have gone to about £1300 for a 1999/2000. Not really retro, but will be. And still a Skoda. They have all disappeared. No favorits listed locally either. What ever it is I find, it needs at least a couple of months MOT, so I can find any niggles before the next one. I don't want anything as big as a classic 900 again. But even 9000 and GM900 saabs (even injections) are either too dear, curse word looking, or too far to bother with (you read the spec and it looks they can't even be arsed to sell it, never mind care for it). I've looked at Volvo 300 series. Nothing local. I've looked at 850's a couple but out of budget and they were saloons. I don't want some rep rocket's old Vectra. I did look at MR2's and MX5's. MK1's of both used to be reasonable. Again they have disappeared or have rocketed in price.

Excellent choice ten men! A 480 Volvo, that fits the description perfectly.
The starion might be a bit fragile if it has to live out on the street.

things to check with 480 volvo's rust... especially rear arches... dodgy electrics, computers... mine was always fecking up and I had to hit (edited cos the swear filter on this changes t w a t to fool) the fuse box to get things going again, also funny at motorway speeds.... Engines in the 480ES are the 1700 renault engines also found in the R5 GTX and numerous other renaults... the 480 turbo's are a 2ltr pug-renault bastardization that I'm not too sure of the history of

meat: buy my rocco! deals done for retro-riders on price, it's a daily driver @ 35mpg on a decent road, everything works, quick enough, comfy enough, full years MoT and you can get it classically insured for about £200.
go on.
mmmmmmmmm.
it's brown, if that helps.
