- Lower steering column flexible coupling has excessive play
- OS steering rack system has excessive free play detected at the steering wheel, with rack fitted
- Steering rack insecure
- Rear fuel pipe leaking
- Rear both brake pipes inadequately clipped
- NSF wheel bearing rough
- OSR brake recording little or no effort (none)
- NSR brake grabbing severely
- OSR parking brake recording little or no effort
I think I'm just going to get a brake overhaul kit for the rear....but my axle appears to be losing oil into the drums (or was) and has contaminated the shoes.
I wonder what seals the axles, and how hard it is to replace ;D
< right click save as, 15mb file, but that's what a hideously overfuelling Sprint that's long overdue a service on a full Janspeed exhuast sounds like ;D
Anyways, need to start collecting things now - backbox, steering wheel, new wheels, alloy rack mounts & coupling, oil catch tank, breathers, new intake system, s'all gonna go in!
Undecided wether to strip the interior nor not yet tho
;D Back to normal rideheight - am considering lowering it, but I think I might just go for some larger/wider wheels & rubber.
Failure sheets suck hippo c0ck. I've been going through mine today trying to check off some things on the list. Did a track rod end. And rounded the brake pipe union nut off. The joys of classic motoring eh?! ;D
meh thats nothing.... i bet it wont take you two engine changes to get it through your mot... lol
i bet the rack is insecure because the fuel pump is dripping oil onto the mounts.... my dads did this (when it was new) - the fix = a drip guard, he tried lots of different make fuel pumps and the all did the same.

If you are replacing a solid pipe on an old car and the union looks a bit rusty I find it better to cut the pipeclose to the top of the union and use a decent quality hex socket onto the nut reduces the chances of rounding off.
What a painless transaction too, he was an excellent Ebayer - just turned up with the cash, recognised the car was as described (didn't even look about it or start it up), signed the doc's, off he went!
So if ya' about in Nottingham, keep an eye open! ;D

I've been away all week so only just catching up with all the threads... and dude... what have you done!? I KNOW it's your car,.. and I know it still goes well,.. but it was one of the hardest looking Triumphs I've seen,.. now it looks like every other Triumph ... Whens your Birthday? Maybe we can buy you a pipe and some slippers.
Wheels and Tyres won't fix that arch gap, if you don't like the ride quality then save and lower it properly, but it's a travesty to have it at standard height...
It is meant to be lowered, shush ;D - it's not going to stay like that!
The problem I hit is that I needed 4 shocks and springs, fast - from Rimmers you could buy a full shock & spring set for ~150 - standard ride height. Now, if I wanted to go for 1" lower (but on standard shocks) it would have been 210 - and that's only 90 quid off a full Gaz suspension kit, which I'd really prefer with lowered springs.
So I figure that come summer it will be lowered again. And I think you're right - it NEEDS to be that low - so I shall try 1" lower on adjustable platforms (you can lower those even more then, can't you?) and put a sump guard on ;D . If that doesn't do the job or give it the rake required, then I'll get 1.5" .
Don't worry lads!
I'm thinking about steel wellers as well - and maybe ditching the bumpers, like my Sprint had done.
(not responsible for the mesh/flag/etc)
Or maybe just losing the front bumpers, keeping the back one. Uncertain, will have to play, take pictures and do a poll ;D
Don't lose faith!! I can't abide it looking like that after having it so slammed, t'was awesome!
Yea - at least I know what's up with it now which is the reason for the influx of 'standard' parts - cheapest route to getting it road legal for an MOT to see if it was a going concern.
These are the wheels I'm watching - but, damned Penski (yes, you s'ah!), he has me thriving on an urge for what the cool kids reputedly call 'dish' ;D
Would look something like that, I think (old photoshop). I'll have to keep an eye out.
I missed buying the roofrack on ebay though proper chrome and wood slat one, that'd have been perfect!
