Also bought some green to flash over the crazed bonnet and fit the new wing but ran out of time - so that's another job added to the "to-do" list ^ Check the date Latest update. 1 - It's Easter 2 - I woz bored 3 - I got an update recently (nothing bad) to say I've got 8 weeks to get my "spare time" jobs done. 4 - (related to 3) I also started spring-cleaning early, keep watching for sales coming soon to a forum near you End result ... I started asking for help with a few jobs that I was struggling with - diagnosing a misfire on a rather posh Peugeot 206 Roland Garros so I could fix it ( Peugeot now fixed & for sale with MOT - PM me ) and to throw some paint I've had in stock for ages onto some new Hunter-shaped bits of tin. The new wings are obvious, give yourself a bonus point if you noticed the spare bonnet now in matching camo green Which gets us to pub o'clock earlier today Nobody said I should polish the beastie in the first 5 years I owned it. I hadn't even got the new bit on and passing helpers (? ) were pointing out fingerprints on the bonnet. There's a good reason I don't do shiny cars !

World's slowest restoration project It'll look great with the new wings on, then you'll just have to decide whether to wash the rest of the car or never wash the new bits.

^ Not really a restoration - just running repairs. 4 panels painted so far (roof, wings, bonnet), only 5 left (doors, tailgate) - we're on target to have it done in time for the Gathering (RRG 2020 that is ) Existing rules still apply for washing. Do the glass, lights, & new paint - leave the rest ps. If anyone has a spare compressor I can borrow for a couple of weeks (to go with my HVLP spraygun), plz PM me

We're still playing the painting-by-numbers (Hunter edition) game, today got us onto a new page Before we get to the good stuff, just a quickie (quickies are always good ) to recommend a local place with a good choice of fasteners & fixings at pub-change prices ( a big bag of spire nuts + matching bolts for £6 ) Thomas Potter : Unit 1G, Admiral Business Park, Nelson Way, Cramlington, NE23 1WGwww.thomaspotter.com/Errm ... not a lot to say If any Rootes / Hunter owners know what the solid block of stuff (resin?) around the headlamp bowl is for, I'd love to know...

I think the inch thick piece of filler on each front corner was a factory addition! both hunters i have owned were like that ( it fell off on the first one so i glued it back on with aroldite ) The green's looking good though. Just needs washed with wire wool to match the rest James

^ ... and thanks James, makes sense (but knowing what we do now - it looks like a bit we can do without ) For info, found that bit was missing on the other side when I took the next wing off.

As good a scruffer as this is, it'd look great if the whole thing was shiny like that!

Looking through you tube found this look what pops up(19 seconds) ... and again 1:40 (complete with the usual puzzled viewer walking around it : "there's no badge at the front - there's no badge at the back - it's painted in 70s BRG - it's at a Ford meet - Whut?" ) thanks for the tip-off, saw lots of nice escorts and a very tasty 105E there - the bacon butties are also worth looking out for

Brake cylinders & calipers (part 4 of 4)
Last week was spent doing shiny bits so today it was time for some oily bits, specifically the rear-wheel brake cylinder that was bought last year as a "sometime" job but never fitted. The brake pedal has been feeling a bit soft for the last few days so needed looking at ASAP. This is another first for me. Since buying the beastie I've fitted a pair of new calipers at the front and a pair of new wheel cylinders at the back - new brakes on all 4 corners!

Keep the updates coming. I'm liking the shiny paint, but you could just empty your hover bag dust onto it if you wanted to match the rest of the car better

You've heard the phrase "a blank canvas"? I give you ... The white panel in the rear screen is a sheet of alloy that just clips out, I can use either side - so have the option to have a different coloured infills Now I just need to work out what to do with all the blank paintwork at the back. Suggestions considered. I have a couple of ideas but nothing set yet. Soon realised that all that white grabs attention but is just too much so needs toning down / breaking up. Thought it might be but decided to try it and see

Green pinstripe work, lower bit painted green to match the front with white pinstripe, or the above slogan in green on that white field.
SOOOO many options.
