I like Retro Cars. PPC is the mag that I should love, and always religiously buy, but theres something about it thats missing. I don't like the way its written, and the pictures are usually fairly poor. same here i cant quite grasp whats missing but ir eally don't enjoy reading it anymore

Retro Cars - Some cool stuff in there, friends of the editorial team seem to get mentioned a lot. A lot of the cars featured are built by pro garages for people. More about style than speed.
PPC - Speed over style, mainly home built stuff, but if I have to read "xxxx is difficult to fit as it is when you try and fit a 27 litre engine into a passenger car" ever again I think i'll go mad. I just sit there going "but a mild big block chevy makes more power" over and over again.

Street Machine Magazine (Australia) for me, I've been subscribing since I was about 13 years old. Thank god for subscriptions as well! The subscriptions have been about $70 a year for about the last 5 years, while the cover price has gone up from $7 to $9.95! You can forget about $10 for a magazine, especially when I can get it home delivered for $6.

Only been buying PPC for a short while (having heard about it on here) but have to say I probably wont buy it much longer. I think the writing’s pretty dreadful (I sometimes have to read a sentence two or three times to be sure I’ve understood it) and the tech stuff is not technical enough. It’s a shame; it should be the perfect mag for me. I’ll check back in a year or so and see how it’s looking. Retro Cars I like, nice writing and great photography too. Just can’t seem to find it anywhere here in London Village, probably need to go to a Big Town… My favourite has always been good old Custom Car. Been buying it since the Keith Seume ‘wilderness years’, through the Tim Baggaley period (my favourite Editor by far) and don’t think I’ve missed an issue since. Still not ‘technical’ enough for me mind, a recent “How To” on drilling holes left me wondering what next, “How To… Hammer Things”….?! Anyone remember the massive three part Jag I.R.S. installation guide? Now that’s what I call a tech article! Still a million times better than the American mags though.

I picked up a Custom Car for the first time in over a year when the last issue came out. Was much better than it was when I stopped reading it, though one annoyance is that they seem to be bad mouthing various cars in show pics, which isn't on in a national publication.

Mid 80s through to early 90s I bought both Street Machine and Custom Car religiously. Never felt all that 'included' by CC, not sure why. I miss Street Machine Out of your list I'd go Retro Cars, for the photography if nothing else. If I'm gonna spend my cash on a magazine that's about something that I spend 90% of my internet time on it needs to look pretty at very least. I buy a PPC every 6 months or so and just don't seem to get on with it.
