Does anyone know what gearbox can be used on this engine for an RWD setup. I presume the manta 5 speed box from the 1.8 can. How about any other VX gearboxes does anyone know whats involved in making them fit, ie. modified flywheel, clutch/pressure plate choices.

Mattblack is the man to ask because he's got one in his Humber sceptre. I'm pretty sure manta boxes will ift. What about a Carlton box?

Right, here goes..
My engine was from a Nova GTE, the box I used was from an 1800 OHC Carlton, which I belive is the same as the Manta box. I'm not sure if a box from a 'cam in head' Carlton is the same. Later shape Carltons have IRS, so I don't think they have a sliding joint on the box, just a rubber coupling. You need a Carlton pilot bearing for the end of the crank, and I had to shorten the gearbox input shaft a bit. I found that the Carlton flywheel was a different bolt spacing to the crank, so I used a Nova clutch cover with a Carlton centre plate and release bearing. Clutch cable is Carlton. I had a 2-peice prop made, the front half is from an automatic Manta.
...Hope this helps! ;D

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.
