Do they get removed by eBay admin (listing violation) or is the seller cancelling your bids? If it's the latter, they're prolly a twit who wants more money for them but is too tight to pay to list them at a higher start price.

As above.
Or he's selling to people who contact him by email during the acution at "his price" and then stopping the auction. If he has multiple items he then relists...
Email him and ask him WFT he's playing at. And or report him to eBay.
TBH if he's doing dodgy stuff you have little comeback on him (no feedback gets left) and he's probably some kind of weirdo loser anyway. I'd best avoid.
The one that really annoys me is "I will end the acution about an hour before the time it is due to end and sell to the highest bidder. this is to stop people bidding at the last minute" - this is to avoid paying final value fees more like. Skinflint idiots. You wouldn't pay autotrader for an ad and then cancel the cheque after it went to print so why is it OK to try and avoid eBay fees?
And then theres the morons who list cars for sale in the "parts" section. They think it will be cheaper 'cos theres not the £6 insertion fee but if it sells for like £2000 then whats the % final sale fee going to be on that idiot.... Plus you'll get less bids. Arrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhh ebay idiots driving me insane..............

Aah, It IS the SELLER! So do you have to pay to list at higher start price? Surely if he 'cancels' it must cost? Sorry to ask these questions but I have NEVER sold on ebay . Many Thanks for advice

He’s just selling ‘without reserve’ cos its cheap and stirs up a bit of interest, nut then cancelling before the end cos he is unhappy with the price. Dob him in to the bay, they’ll sort him out for wasting everyones time. Waqner.

All most car bits go up in last 5 minutes anyway cos car parts buyers seem to think they'll outwit each other and bid in last 5 seconds. So its nowonder he's not getting his price, the nugget!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Obviously, this bloke is a plank, but last minute (or rather second) bidding works, you put in your highest bid and it doesn't leave other bidders the time to think 'oh, just another £1 then'. It's like a real auction that way too - a viewing period followed by bidding at the end. I'm convinced the magazines I bought last night would have cost less if I hadn't showed my hand too early.

It does work and if the price is raised early it makes others leave it, unless of course they NEED the item!

I had 12 auctions end on Sunday and 90% of the action was in the last 10secs.
I can sort of see why people auction like this guy does, if he's in no rush to sell then I can see his logic.

But if the guy knows what he wants for it, why not do it as a 'buy-it-now' with / without the 'best offer' sale option?
That way everyone's in the picture from the outset and no need for skulduggery....?
