Thanks to the PCD converter thing, I have found out that my daily driver has the PCD as most Fords. This opens up a whole new world to me. Any idea what these Ford alloys are called? I have a feeling they might be revol/revolite or similar..... Ebay + Photoshop + my car = I still have the original steel white rims (with black inserts - Simca 1000 rallye style) with bald P6000's but I'm currently driving them with rather cheap looking 106 GTI alloys. They look like hubcaps, but they were cheap with A539 Yoko's on them Question is does nayone have any? Ideally no bigger than 15"..... I do apologise to those who think the car is part of the VTR/Nova brigade but this car drives and handles to sweetly for me to give up easily! Fanks!

Hi Darren, those are RS alloys...but beware there are a few different types, with different offsets and widths. I'll keep a look out for a cheap set of rims for you though. I've got a set of 4-spokes of unknown origin that I might be able to source for you.

I must point out that the 106 is very sensitive to offset changes...
This comes from personal experience : I had borrowed a set of 206 rims (steel 14", 185/55 tyres, don't remember exact offset but it was a wrong one) for a visit to the track, but never got there... The car felt so unstable that I decided to return home, before something bad happened...
So you should try to find a retro-style wheel that has the correct offset for a Rallye... And don't go wider than 6", or the tyres will scrape the wings at full lock.
Styling apart, the original Michelin steel wheels are very light and very tough, being the ideal wheels for a Rallye. The 106 GTi alloy wheels are also very tough, and they're used in most race/rally 106's around here, so that must mean something...

If you go for RS 4-spokes, don't leave the black parts black, paint them body-colour, they look great like that. I have the same problem with rubbing with the 7x13 Wellers on my Imp. I can sort it using spacers to widen the track thouh. It just means wider wheelarches, but that's not a bad thing, is it?

The 4 spokes from a Mk3 Capri lazer are 6" wide but I'm not sure the offset will be right. The Mk1 fiesta supersport had the same wheels, but a different offset, I think Or you could go for a set of Weller steels

I swear by Weller eight spokes, preferably from back in the day! go for the wider ones, they really look the dog's curse word!

Your wee Pug will take any old Sunbeam wheels and they are the correct offset, so I'm told ET+12

Et12 seems like an unlikely offset for a FWD car...Sunbeam maybe, but not the 106 surely?

Don't Do it!!
As I am sure you know 106 rallyes handling is ruined by changing the wheels. Even adding approved Pug alloys sends it to pot so goodness only knows what a set of anything else will do!
As standard you have one of the best handling and fun to drive front wheel drive cars ever built, don't spoil it!
Also despite a few other comments on this thread those RS alloys look so very very wrong and that Euro 106 just sucks.

I agree with 104ZS - The 106 Rallye is a modern classic, and is a superb handling fun car. I would get some new decent tyres fitted to the original white steel wheels - which I think look top (if you can, fit the tyres which were originally fitted when the car was new) Being that your 106 is a rounded modern looking car (especially so being that it is the facelift model) I think that by just adding 'Retro' looking wheels would make it just look weird. To carry off any retro/euro look you would need to drastically lower the car and space the wheels (or fit wheels of a suitable offset) To fill the arches - which would obviously knacker the handling So long as you don't fit 18" wheels and some gay Fast and Furious bodykit I wouldn't see your 106 as being a Boy racer car - more the car of choice for the driving enthusiast

To be fair the RS isn't the best alloy for the 106, and I suppose Weller eight-spokes like I suggested are a little heavy for the job. But still, I agree with DerbyDan, at least you didn't want to put 21x10" BBS multi-spokes and a ton and a half of cheap plastic on it a la Max Power! Apparently people ruin the early MX5 the same way. Those had special light-weight 15" Minilite-lookalike alloys, which everyone replaces with 17" wheels 'to make it look better' (which it doesn't!) and curse word up one of the few beautifully handling 90's cars!

Cheers for the help guys, maybe I should leave my retro head for the Datsun, and leave the pug be. I've had it for over 3 years, done 60K miles and asides from the occasional sensor/stepper motor problem its been good to me. I've not done much to it asides from a few track days with a cat by-pass pipe.
I can think of 99 reasons to get rid of it, but just the 1 is enough to keep it. Those weller wheels might be the only serious option. The whole essence of the car is handling - quite a few people have under estimated the car and I quite like that. The current GTI wheels don't look too good (in my eyes anyway) and I just fancy a change but I must admit the original 15" steelies were perfect for the car.
Need not worry about me 'chav'ing up the car - I get quite irrated by kids who compromise the handling of theri cars by adding stupidly large and frankly dangerously sized wheels. Especially on a 1.1 Ski....
Of the fellow mk2 Rallye owners I've come across (not many!) they've largely kept the car standard bar the wheels.
Now RS wheels for the Datsun... thats more like a proposition I'm willing to explore....

Do up the datsun. It will benifit from it and will be fun all round. Put the original steels back on the 106 and bask in the glory of knowing something the spotty 18 year olds do not.
