Right got a linkage bush kit and replaced the Engine bay linkage bushes I have the Bush and housing for the base of the gear lever but I cant for the life of me work out how to get that out Do I have to drill something out or knock out a Pin or something ? to let the gear lever come up far enough ? Need help while its still light ;D Cheers Dom

Thanks anyway Apparently there was a really good guide in "The Golf" magazine on how to do it without taking the entire linkage apart Its better than it was, but having bought the bush seems a shame not to fit it

Do you mean replace the plastic ball and socket thingy at the base of the gearlever? If so it's a complete b@stard to do, you need to remove the heatshield from underneath the car and sometimes part of the exhaust... I give up with mine after a while and just renewed all the bushes in the engine bay, re-adjusted it and fitted a Mk3 weighted shift rod - it's good enough! I'll do the ball thing at some point if I ever have it up on a ramp and have the patience!
