The trouble with these threads is that they plant seeds of desire! Whilst I should be typing 'Nissan Micra Automatic' into eBay search, I may accidentally spell it 'Sierra'... I blame you lot, you're a bad influence!!!

I've had 5 of them. Great cars, I shouldn't have sold the last one.

Sierra's are great. We got this off here from £150 and took it round Europe on the Ramshackle Rally. Was gutted I couldn't bring it back and turn it into a drift car! ![](http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f109/garethlloyd/IMG_1446.jpg) ![](http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f109/garethlloyd/IMG_1338.jpg) ![](http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f109/garethlloyd/IMG_1355.jpg)

![](http://www.ianhardy.net/gallery/main.php/d/43579-2/CRW_2015.jpg) Id like to find out more about that Michael Blomfield Sierra RS500 with cloch written down the side....Looks like it evolved a bit I found the following info, and stole it. It's down as a Ford Sierra, but I doubt there's a Ford part on the car. It's a spaceframe chassis with a 6.7litre V8 in the back and a Ford Sierra glassfibre body. It's a very quick car. It races in the North West Sports/Saloon Championship, which is based around Oulton Park, but also visits Cadwell, Anglesey and I think Mallory Park. I've got a few more shots of it if you go back through my photostream, and I'm sure I'll take a few more before the end of the season. andy_j2000 (17 months ago) A little more information - this car was originally built and raced in 1989 in the Thundersaloons championship by Gartrac and Rod Birley, then including a ~700 bhp front-mounted air-cooled flat 6 turbo engine from a Porsche 956 (!). It could reach 180+mph in a straight line, but the air-cooled nature of the engine proved to be a problem as the downdraft from the cooling fan caused the car to get airborne over some of the crests in the track. There were many technical problems with the car and its handling was not up to scratch, so the rolling shell and engine were sold (separately). The shell was fitted with a mid-mounted ~600hp 6.7l Pontiac V8, which is the engine it has now, by the then-new owner, before being sold on to Michael Blomfield, who is now the owner-driver of the now further-modified car. See www.rodbirley.com/Sierra.htm for information and pictures of the "Sierra Porsche" and 8 for a fantastic video of the car racing at Oulton Park in 1989 with a field of other Thundersaloons (it's the number 4 car). Found another pic, which I also half inched, wonderful thing, the web. ![](http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/ad221/David-Walker-1603/3395215322_7b76d1f5ef.jpg) My thanks and apologies to the original authors, and I claim no credit for any of the above. I've 4 Sierras. This one came to grief on a wet roundabout. ![](http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a112/keithyboy/old%20cars/img002.jpg) This one I paid £150 for but the wiring loom had been hacked about by some ham fisted alarm fitter and the batt wouldn't hold charge. I sold it for £100 and it's still going strong last time I checked. ![](http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a112/keithyboy/old%20cars/sierra2.jpg)
