I went and spent some money last night cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8052895265Unfortunatly this is going to hold back part of the project, so only a supercharger for now, no turbo, that will come later! So is anyone else doing/done a megasquirt system? A nice chap called David Hampshire from the imp club has put megasquirt on his imp, and spent some time making up this pdf file on how to do it. ipaqsparker.tripod.com/megasquirtconversion.pdfSoooooo I'm now worried, have i don't the right thing? There wasnt any pictures but then again its going to be a box and some wires cheers J

Well, I'm supposed to be building one, but I've had a lot of upheaval recently with a big move and such, so it's sitting in a box half-built, along with the rest of my engine. One thing I didn't get is the stimulator, so I'm having to build it and hope it all works... I found the MegaManual guide really simple - step-by-step guide, just follow the instructions (well, in theory anyway). "So only a supercharger for now" - oh poor you! ;D

I WAS looking at injection, and I will look at it again. However I found by the time you'd got it all together and built Megasquirt would have cost nearly as much as Emerald. If I was going up to those prices I'd save a bit more and go DTA... HOWEVER... that set up is a bargain. So good work on getting it. I've also spotted for sale on yahoo auctions a set up fro a B310 which doesn't look like any of the above mentioned injection setups so I'm going to try and find some more info about it! This is the blurry picture : The manifold and fuel rail are from Tomei... but I'm not sure where the brains are from.

The injection system looks pretty crazy hotwire, retro!
what this does mean is the the imps turbo system is up for sale, £300 for the turbo (less than 1000miles from new), link pipe, wastegate, intercooler, rebuilt carb, regulator, custom inlet manifold, and all assicoated pipe work.
And for £450 i can include the ignition controller, pressure sensor, and the dizzy with newtronic optronic ignition.
Its a bargain! cost me over a grand in total i think. Ill pop it in the for sale section.
cheers

what is VEMS? i cant find a web site, £200 for the ECU, connection cable, sensors, loom, and all the ignition kit did seem to bad. All this mentioning of different systems is making me feel nervous, hope it was the right decsition J

All this mentioning of different systems is making me feel nervous, hope it was the right decsition It is... I only disregarded it based on price and my lack of knowledge (ie I'd like an emerald shaped hand setting stuff up) ... but you got it at a great price (almost half price!) and I'm guessing you'll have no problems setting it up!

All this mentioning of different systems is making me feel nervous, hope it was the right decsition J You`ll be fine J I really wanted to do MS&Ex to learn how it all worked but I am not sufficiently geeky to sort it out if anything goes wrong.... electronics is not my bag, neither is writing Code and Like HW I just don't have the time to learn the intricacies of Megasquirt The time for me is far better spent at work, earning money to pay the extra for an easier to set up and more user friendly system, because i need all the help I can get But I am lucky in sharing a house with 2 of the best Calibration and control systems engineers in the business ;D.... they said go DTA, and as they are probably going to be doing a lot of the mapping I figured I better take their advice ;D ;D

I still havent made up my mind which system to go for. Emarald gets my mates seal of approval as he has used it many times without problem. As I will be doing a complete rebuild on the car and will be doing all the work myself I like the idea of megasquirt (must be a glutton for punishment ;D)

I've learned a hell of a lot just from putting my megasquirt together and i've not even got it in the car yet. At the end of the day I know i'm not gonna end up with an all singing all dancing state of the art ecu, but i'm not in any real hurry to get it done, when it is done i know it'll be more than up to the job that i want it to do. And most of all i'll be able to stand back and say 'I built that' ;D Oh yeah, dunno if this is what nick means by VEMS but worth a look anyway. www.sdsefi.com/

I bought a suitably retro laptop for my Megasquirt set-up. 75MHz of Pentium POWARRR all encased in a lovely beige box that weighs about as much as the engine. But, it's up to the job as it has all the right ports and stuff, and you don't need massive computing power to run the MS program. And it only cost me £30 off the bay. Supah ;D

A nice chap called David Hampshire from the imp club has put megasquirt on his imp, jolly nice of you old boy! seriously though, from what i saw of the turbo imp at rcs and the imp meet in dorset last year I'm sure you have the knowledge to get the setup running. i'll expect it to be done for this years rcs show that's the aim for my imp anyway, 998 on the way now.....
