I recently whacked a DAB head unit in the Golf and I'm not too impressed with the reception...it seemed really unpredictable around the M25. Luckily it also picks up good old FM. Anybody else got one? Mines a JVC with an internal aerial.

I resisted the temptation to go DAB last week and bought a good old fashioned analogue tuner/CD, JVC unit £48 new! It picks up loads of FM stations without an aerial..........I must fit one ;D

My colleague with a lupo gti swears by DAB, says it's faultless reception. However he's got the Blaupunkt Woodstock unit with a glass-mount aerial. Is there a facilitiy to add an external aerial to yours?

Does your mate reckon it's faultless where ever he travels Pillock? Mines a glass mounted aerial and I do get good reception but not continuously and the problem is that it just cuts out with DAB, where as with FM it might just go a bit faint (unless in a tunnel ;D) I have the facility to add an external aerial so may be that's the way to go!

yeah he listens to DAB all the time, doesn't have any FM presets.... probably just down to quality of aerial and signal amp etc

I had one in the MGB and removed it for that reason, it was really bad when going past a large number of power lines. And driving past a Power station every day in heavey traffic used to get on my Tits.
I just sold it on and went for a Very nice standard one with better facilities

wander down to your local scrapyard and most OEM headunits are a tenner each - lots have ISO plugs on the back (VW and Vauxhall do for definate).
I ebayed a JVC cd tuner not long ago, got £50 for it, not a bad bit of kit but it came free with the 'rocco, still in the box and never fitted, and it just didn't look right - all silver and flashy lights.
