Right then folks, After debatting with the boss as too an old skool/retro family hauler I've suggested the ol Renault 21/Savanna ( the 7 seater jobby ) As the do them in both petrol and diesel, and they lok like they can carry and army and its lunch to the end of the world and back ;D
So a few questions if anyone has the answers, Any bad bits to look for ? Anything in particular that falls off/fails/hard to replace ? Are they 5x108 pcd like the turbo variety or 4x100 like the rest of the renault fleet ?
As always thanks in advance
J ;D
( ps if anyone has pics of modified ones, they'd be a bonus ! )

There's a mental twin turbo 21 in the 'Readers Rides' section of this months Retro Cars mag

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

Hey, go for it! Nice looking old bus, the 21. Logic tells me that the Savanna will have 4x100 wheels on, as it has the smaller engines and probably less juicy transmissions etc... Besides, the I thought that the turbo 1 model had 4x100 wheels too, and this pic of a Turbo 1 seems to prove it, or am I wrong as usual?!

21 turbo had the same PCD as Volvo have used, not too sure on the exact measurements.
The 21 turbo's are a nightmare for parts tho.

Cheers for the replies ;D We'll be steering well clear of the 21 Turbo's and Quadratrac variety as parts are very hard to come by, as stated above. We need the Savanna type anyway, family/parts/trailer tent hauler plus the boots in them look HUGE !. We'll be contacting a chap off findit tomorrow to go and look at a bargain basement one, so we'll see whatcha gets for ya money etc. Plans are to go euro look with it, 15/16" rims ( 4x100 + 60mm bore ) low pro rubber, lower it by a good 60mm and perhaps a bit of engine work ( though being a diesel it'll never be a 9sec quarter runner !! ) Oh and good alround tidy up and it'll be the only one in the UK like it, well that we know of anyway ;D And pics on here to show the progress for all to mock at J

If they're the same as Volvo PCDs, then you should get a nice set of Volvo 960 15" Multispoke alloys, those look great, and I think the 760 and some 740 turbo had them too. Or those great 240GLT five spokes. The ol' man's 940 turbo has those. But be careful that they'll clear the front brake calipers. We had to skim bits out of the inside of the wheels with the grinder to get them to fit, although Volvo calipers are huge, and no Citroen I've ever worked on has calipers that big.
