About time I started a thread on here about our new daily driver for our family of four + two dogs. This has replaced an Evo X FQ 360, so 305 bhp less but twice the fun and 10X the coooool! It's been very well looked after by a chap called Tom in the Isle Of Man and we're very proud to take ownership of it. Already finished off renovating an old wooden steering wheel: Plans are to get it lowered, I'm playing with the idea of heating the springs but I may take it along to Gaz who are just around the corner from me, but the charge a pretty penny to sort it, so that may have to wait and I'll probably try heating the springs before I let Gaz loose on it... I want to sort out a decent sound system but I don't want to upset the near perfect original interior, some of the external bits of plastic, including the grill, need redyeing and I'm going to start work on the grill this afternoon, a respray some time next year but this is not a priority. I'm also after a front splitter ala mk1 golf GTi jobs, but I think this would have to be jury rigged as there are no original splitters made for the 1st gen, so I've got my eye out for summit that will do the job. I hope this forum enjoys sharing the progress and work we do with this family daily runner...

cool daily runner!
but just chop the springs, don't heat them, angle grinders make a lot of noise but they are not as dangerous as you would think!

Nice Civic! Here it's a realy rare car, can't even remember whan I last time saw one of these. What's the original color? Silver, still has the original paint work, and interior. The door cards still have the plastic on them. It's a little time warp.

Thanks, they are taken on an old Olympus Pen-F with zuico lens, 400 B+W film, yellow filter. I have a roll of film full of shots but it's not finished yet, I'll post them once I've developed them... Yes, they are Toyos on custom compomotive minilights, put on by their previous owner who has done a fantastic job of keeping her in tip top condition. Personally I'd probably have had them made up wider with a dish and stretched the tires a bit, but to be honest their current look has really grown on me, it's in keeping with the original unmolested look and feel of the car.

I think stretch might be anathema for such soft and focused trackday tyres - they speak volumes about power and grip, having them on a car like this says to the casual observer 'there's something about this that you don't know'... I'd say it's spot-on as it is.

Lovin this little Civic. Bit then I do have a soft spot for older Hondas.
Maybe bring it along to a meet up sometime? Take a look inthe meetings forum under Essex boys or girls.

But I'll need to keep on top of all the little problem areas over the winter months as it is going to be our family runner and will be used come rain or shine at least once or twice a week.

Chopping some coils would have a better effect than heating although the Gaz option would be best long-term.

Sweet gen 1 uve got there,I've always wanted another as I had 1 years ago! I've got a gen 2 Civic S & a recently purchased early Prelude so I'm not doing bad in the grand scale of things! Definitly needs hitting with the lowering stick & Gaz can do coilovers for it for around £600 as I have them fitted on the Civic..... Tim
