Fantastic idea!
Are there any Rallycross venues in the UK? Brands? Scuttling off to Google...
There is usually a good classic motorsport element in at the Somerley House stages of Rally Sunseeker, near Ringwood. It takes place in February most years, might be a nice season opener?

I've been to the Rally day in Castle Combe and they also have classic motorsport racing once a year I think (Ford Mustangs against Austin A40's, Cortinas, Escorts etc). Pembrey has a classic race meet in October too. Pembrey also hosts Rallycross. Brighton Speed Trials might be another idea. Shelsley and Prescott are fantastic. Hot Rod Drags is only a RWYB and is only for Pre 72 cars (To race anyway)

A good fun European race is the 25 Hours of Spa with Funcup, amazing circuit lots of racing with the Belcars and the Belgium touring cars and then the Funcup cars. I think it is held start to mid July each year and is always supported by a classic VW parade at the start of the race.
Also this year Blyton Raceway (Lincolnshire) held the first night race for rallycross and are planning to do another one, so for the people around Lincolnshire this could be a good event.

Rallyday sounds good to me, and Bergrennen sounds like it could be an immense trip but perhaps a bit too costly for most!
There's always the BTCC races too, Granted they're not retro-focused but everyone enjoys a good touring car race, and the Ginettas/Porsche cup can be quite entertaining too and theres a few further up the deep dark north, So may be easier for us outlanders to get too.
Also, theres always Le mans as alot of members already go there yearly anyway - Not forgetting the Le Mans classic too!.

Bergrennen could be costly, but could be budget too
trip is 3 1/2 hours from dunkirk 300kms/10=30 litres of petrol (dunno what the cost is, but belgium is 1,20E or 1 quid a litre (easy calculating) ticket for the ferry is 60 quid (www.norfolkline.co.uk) take a late or early one when you're skint. campsite 20 quid for 2 nights entrance to the races 15 Euro's (12quid) so excluding food and trip to dover it's around 122 quid for 1 person in a car to attend you can take up to 5 on the ferry in 1 car, so I guess it's not tooo expensive.
you could also take the plane to lux airport and a taxi to a 5 star hotel near eschdorf, but then you miss out on the roadtrip and campsite fun.

Great idea, I'll be up for some of this, family dependant of course, my years of 50 events are gone now A trip to Castle Combe has to be in there some where, theres usually a classic/retro race meet at some point. Gurston Down is a nice hillclimb track as well Start of the year trip to Brooklands for the VSCC trials would be fun, I went this year and its great to watch vintage rides being used and abused, plus you get the museum and grounds to look round as well. Tempest Rally in Aldershot in November has a good mix of cars and being a one dayer with stages close together you can see lots in one go.

Great idea!!! Race events are the way forward, had enough of static shows now....
Having just been, I think the Oulton Park Gold Cup is a nice event as Seth suggested. Quite low key, so no crazy crowds, great setting and a race track, and some rally track too. Club car displays too if we wanted to show a United front!
