The Montrose has more in common with the 929, so try searching for Mazda 929 parts. The 2.0 engine is identical, but the autobox is lower geared.

If I recall correctly, a first gen 626/montrose/capella shares it's floorpan and suspension with a first gen rx7. Engine wise, a lot is interchangeable between models from the seventies, early eighties (except the smaller 1000-1300-818-323). As mentioned before, the 929 LA4 estate used the same engine up to 1988.

The 626 was designed to be a rotary powered car, so rotary conversions are quite common.

Fitting an FE3 looks like a more difficult challenge, being a transverse engine, although there were some Kia's wich ran an FE3 in longitudinal setup.

Or just stick with the MA engine (supposing you have a 2.0). OK, it has a has a hideously long stroke which makes it very reluctant to rev past 5k, but it's got lots of torque and it's bulletproof. The engine I'm using in my car had been outside, under a tree, without the head and it still span freely.
Manifolds to fit (twin) weber carbs are easily sourced in Australia. If you look really hard you might even find a turbo conversion kit which was offered in the the early eighties.
If you want to bin the points, you can score an electronic dizzy of an 2.0 FE powered 929HB or 626 GC/GD. Straight fit...

I've picked up spare engines for as liitle as 25 euros to strip for spares..
