Being as the Firenza ran all the way down to the gathering and back without any probs , Ive decided it needs a bit of Nitrous to help it go a little faster. I have an old wet kit that I got a couple off years ago but never fitted but it needs some spares for it. Or I'm just gonna get a complete new kit for it. Is there anyone local to the midlands thats any good that I can discuss options with and get a little info or even buy a kit from I'm in Telford so the closer the better thanks

I like your thinking. If it's not broken, fix it until it is

I love how this car just keeps on evolving! No idea about local nitrous places, I'm sure someone will give some pointers though.

......and of course, the ever-present www.noswizard.com/If you can, do consider getting a decent progressive controller though - it makes the system much more flexible and it can be the difference between a reliable, effective power adder, or a complete meltdown. Plus, with a controller, you can run much bigger shots than you could with a simple on/off system - and get that power down as well, by matching it to the available traction.

make sure your fuel system is up to it before you go ahead and try the gas out and get a kit that is right for what you need for your setup . I personally use a kit from edelbrock quality is very good and its very similar to the NOS kits . I had a wizard kit on an old car and wasn't impressed with its quality ie poorly made bad flowing nozzle no braid on the fuel and gas lines and a bottle that looks like ground down fire extinguisher . and as Lewis said get a controller they make using the gas a much better experience and cut the chances of damaging the engine

I will get a pic up off the bits I have later, though I may be tempted to just go and buy a complete kit. Do they need setting up on a rolling road after they have been fitted. will probs give wacky a ring later in the week see what he thinks.
Nightmare what sort off price are the Edlbrook kits all done and fitted do you think. I have a max £1000 budget to spend at the moment Are they easy enough to fit yourself and get them running ok.

think my kit once I got all the controller and fuel pump (i ran a separate fuel system for the gas on mine ) they came to around £900 very easy to fit just make sure your double check everything and that your fuel system works well it fuel system failure or wrong jetting that will do the damage when using nitrous . its a good idea to fit a fuel pressure safety switch into the kit that way if your fuel pressure drops your nitrous system will shut off the other thing is are you running forged pistons as they are better for coping with boost better than cast you would be very much restricted to how much gas you can run on cast pistons

Mark, tempted on the dark side too, Got a fogger system on the shelf, I'm a bit dubious about fitting at the moment as my new engine is running 14.1cr, probably need to back off about 10degs before I would even consider using it, TBH, I want to run a 11 on NA engine first on treads before I go over to the dark side

Yes running forged pistons and big valve heads fast road cam 750 cfm 4 barrel holley etc . Ive never had it on a rolling road yet to check the timing etc, buts its running the best it ever has so cant be far out
I'm not looking for huge power gains just that bit extra is always good ;D

The construction of a nitrous bottle is identical to a CO2 fire extinguisher – the only difference being the tap at the end and the dip tube inside the bottle.
The bottles they use are brand new – lets face it, it’s really not worth their time buying old fire extinguisher bottles and then stripping or repainting them considering the amount of time involved in doing so when they can buy off the shelf from Catalina.
Regardless of that fact if you’re going DIY an old Co2 fire extinguisher is perfectly acceptable to use for a nitrous system.
I ran a WON system on my old Mr2. 150bhp hit on top of 18psi boost (stock engine). Went well. Would consistently run 12.5’s, even when carrying a passenger, a tool box and a spare 11lbs cylinder in the boot. Torque was huge – only probably was the turbo was ultimately restricting the performance on gas as it simply couldn’t flow enough.
Regarding the advice about installing a progressive controller – I had no issues running that size shot on a direct hit – even on the button 150bhp was pretty gentle.
Other things to look into is a bottle heater to ensure the bottle pressure is maintained at optimum, the lower the pressure the less performance.
Nitrous on a turboed engine will give some really good gains even from a small shot as you benefit from a charge cooling effect.
