It belonged to a friend who had owned it since mid 60's and gave it to me when he went to live aboad. I've got the original workshop manual but registration document (pre DVLA records so not on computer) were lost in a house fire years ago. Mate took it off the road because one plug had stripped the thread in the head otherwise everything else works - when I connected a (6v) battery it even turned over on the starter ! Parts are horrendous price. I need a pair of silencers and they will cost £1200 for the only replicas made Plan therefore is it to buy 4 x Honda bog seat items, cut them up and make my own before having rechromed. Wheels are solid but chrome flaking off so will see if I can have original rims rechromed rather than using aftermarket items. Seat cover is some sort of early plastic and similar to Rexine hence breaking up but at least can be used for a pattern. I have bad left leg as well as numerous other medical conditions and am having to face the fact I won't be able to ride a bike again on a regular basis. The Benly therefore is going to be my final contact with two wheels and I'm looking forward to restoring it idc even if it is only a "trailer queen". It's quite small so I can at least get on it so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I might be able to occasinally potter around on it when I'm feeling well enough. The other bike you can see in the background is a CB400A Hondamatic and the Benly is a fraction of the size / weight Paul H

Oh, and for silencers, try cd175 ones. They look nearly identical , but the may be slighlty longer/larger. I have a set, but they're knackered. I could still get some measurements from them if you like, just to see if a new set would work?

if you are planning on going to the lengths of chroming made up silencers, i presume the originals are beyond redemption but for a stupid idea how about hydraulic forming some replacements as for the 400 auto that must be one of the few not converted into a trike as they were a popular base to use for disabled bikers and the last one i saw was triked for a wheelchair user (mind you i have only ever seen 2 so not a particularly common bike) ttfn glenn

Hi Paul
I bet that you've been asked this question many many times, please forgive me for my cheek..... Did you do anything with that Honda CB92 that you brought back into the light of day in 2010 or did you put it back to do later......
I came across your post while trawling the net for a CB92 Benly to restore as that was my first bike in 1971/2, in fact I had one to ride and another without an engine for parts, some went onto a Tiger Cub special that I built.
Let me know if you still have it and would consider selling.
Best regards Paul

Best regards Paul It's going to be sold idc. Unfortunately won't be cheap though if you are after a bargain as they fetch serious money and with being an original condition / unrestored machine might end up in an auction. Wouldn't be surprised if it goes to US.

Thanks for the reply I know they fetch good money I've seen them in top condition far out of my price range. I'm not after one to make money I'm coming up for retirement and looking for a project having come back for the third time to bikes. I'd be interested to know how you get on.what sort of price do you have in mind anyway ? Let me know you may save yourself some time and effort. Pawsnotclaws@icloud.com
Best regards Paul
