Model: Mk1 Rover 213 SE Auto
Year: 1988
Mileage: 31,000
Tax: November
MOT: October
Location: Stockport or Newcastle upon Tyne
Price: offers around £450
Additional Information:
I bought this car as a stop gap when my Metro failed its MOT, and have really enjoyed owning it, but unfortunately lack of space dictates I must sell it. I have owned this ‘Ronda’ (Rover-Honda collaboration) for 6 weeks or so, purchasing it from an enthusiast in Lancaster. Prior to this, it lived in Northern Ireland and worked as a funeral car (can you tell!?).
Good points:
* I have the original bill of sale, which shows that the car was bought new from Hillingdon Motor Company in Middlesex by a Mr Arthur Smith, on 6th February 1988, for the sum of £8,770.
* I also have MOTs dating back to 1994, showing that the car covered less than 1,000 miles per year in its first 20 years!
* The current MOT expires on 7th October 2010 and the Tax expires at the end of November.
* For a Mk 1 Rover 200 it is in very good condition – I mean, come on, it has wheel arches!
* On the road the auto box and Honda 1342 engine pull very well, and it is rather relaxed – even at 3,750 revs at 70mph - due to the fairly soft suspension set up and rather good sound proofing.
* Electric windows (including ‘one touch’ on the driver’s side), electric mirrors and central locking all work as they should.
* Modern Rover radio, in keeping with the car – the original one is included.
* A small but useful collection of spares is included - spare wheel trims, a couple of light clusters, a new set of rear mudflaps, and a brand new gear selector plate (current one is split).
* 4 almost new tyres.
Bad points:
* There was a slight blow on the exhaust, which has been repaired, but a new centre section may be needed at some point in the near future.
* There are one or two small dents on the near side and bonnet courtesy of a couple of 'bad eggs' at the home of the previous owner.
* The top of the windscreen is a bit scrappy and leaks slightly, hence the headlining needs replacing. The rest of the interior is very good, save for the odd cracked bit of trim.
The car has been exhibited recently at the BL/BMC rally in Peterborough, and this weekend at Tatton Park in Cheshire, and received lots of attention and positive comments. I have tried to describe the car as accurately as possible - please take a look at the photos, more are available on request. Viewing is recommended, by prior arrangement please.
Why not take this opportunity to save a well looked after example of an almost extinct car for less than the price of a new mid-range fridge freezer?
