Whats the best way to dispose of empty disposable mig gas bottles? I don't want to throw them in the bin, anyone know if they are recycleable?
I really should get round to converting to a big bottle but I never did much welding until I got started on the beetle. I shouldn't have started poking about really, igorance is bliss.

Ask your local council.... Our friendly neighbourhood tip takes them for recycling

Not sure if they can be 'recycled' as such... I'd sling em in the scrap metal skip at the tip...

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

well that's what i meant by 'recycling'... they put anything that may be pressurised to one side rather than risk it going 'pop' in the big skip.....

If its empty there is no pressure in it, so its a peice of steel.

Does anyone know someone who can refill/swap my waist-height (T-size) bottle of BOC argoshield? I no longer have an account with BOC so they will not touch me! If I can find someone who DOES have an account and who uses the same bottle I will pay handsomely to swap my empty one for a full one.

Cost me £8 for my last exchange CO2 bottle. Normally now you just pay a deposit when you get your first bottle then the exchange price after that. My exchange bottle actually had Vaux breweries on the top but they didnt mind and it wasnt a back street place either. Admittedly CO2/Argon is nicer to weld with, but I am happy enough just usingh CO2 at home
