Hi guys
well i got home from uni yesterday afternoon, and within 10mins my hands were so greasy that it wouldent wash off! The imp was back up and running pretty quick (flat battery and duff fuel in the carb), when i took it for a drive it sounded louder than before. I took a look at the silencer and it had dropped off the manifold!
So work began this morning, it was a swap to the lower springs and dampers at the front and the Compomotives swapped off the white one. Then sort out the exhaust.
started out sunny but got worse throughout the day
This is the front damper assembly, there are a pair of nuts at the top that lock against each other. The first is easy to get off as the other one can be held with a spanner, the second is a little more dificult.
Its made more difficult when the thread looks like this, someone has cross threaded the nut and just wound it on.
This is the first wheel on the blue one, the writing matches the car colour really well!
This is the rather sad looking old imp, being stripped for all its useful parts.
When i was removing the rear wheels i took a look at one of the MOT fail points and gave it a poke, as can be seen the hole got bigger and bigger!
This is the old silencer, the rusted hole where the manifold links up can be clearly seen.
Once fitted the micron CBR600 can and janspeed manifold, its a little more noisy (make that a lot!) but there are no leaks so i can live with it
And at the end of the day i took it for a drive, stopped to help a stranded fiat 500 owner. He had driven home from uni in bristol and broke down 5 miles from home! This is a pic of todays fruits, needs to go loads lower!
cheers
