	I am nearly finished assembling my engine but I want to polish the inlet manifold, turbo and alternator housing before thay go back on. I can borrow the dremel from work, I was thinkin a trip to bandq on the way home but I'm not sure what the best gear to get would be (has to be a cheap method too) what do you think? A tube of autosol and some generic polishing heads for a dremel? Whats the best type? Also, is it ok to polish the alternator with it still in one piece or would the sward and curse word go in the cooling holes and cuase damage? Should I split the casing? Never opened an alternator before so don't want to risk busting it by opening it! Cheers many ears

	you thoughts on how to polish I cannot comment. but open the alternator up or you will cause damage, I'f you only sliding the caseing off the rear it shouldn't dissasemble it'self. BTW have polished inlet for CA18DET sat in me shed, intrested?

	Thought as much might try and slide the case off. Could be interested, depends how my efforts go tonight dude! How much would you want for it out of interest?

	If the bits are cast then id goa for some rough wet and dry paper to smooth it all out, then fine, then polish and dremmel. I found that dremmels work well when the is some polish on the surface too
