The Plymouth hasn't been run "properly" since June last year. Its only run since then was to put it on to a flat bed and then off again to get it onto my drive when my parents finally evicted it in the "you moved house three months ago, please come collect this ugly rusty mess you left here "for a couple of weeks" before we scrap it"
So I went to it today, got in it and remembered I do like it. Its actually quite cool. Openned the bonnet (or should I say "Popped the hood"?) and found the battery was still hooked up, so I put the AVo across it and it had 12.2v showing, not a right lot, but hey. I thought enough to drag some fuel through then I'll put the booster on it and tweak stuff.
Turned the key for about 5 seconds, motor turned well. Left it for 2-3 seconds and turned it again. Repeated the process and on the third attempt it fired up and ran smooth as silk. No splutter or odd idling, just staight into a smooth clean idle like it was a regular runner. Nice one.
Its one of those motors you know you want to rip out and fit a bigger one, or at least pull apart and tune up, but it works so well it would never be the same again. Always starts right up, even after 6 months of neglect on a weakened battery.
Then I saw it peeing fuel out of the filter like mad so I shut it off. But on the whole I was pleased with that.
Just thoguht I'd share some positive news for a change.
