Quick question - does anyone know whether the Bilstein shocks on the E36 328i Sport Coupe have the same dimensions as the standard shocks on the non-Sport 328i? Basically, will these fit? Thanks, hivemind. ;D

You change the strut as a bolt on unit and not an insert, so all e36 struts fit on your hubs, except M3 thats how they fit. an actual sport strut has a B6 insert, they are the only struts that do. (coilover platfrms anyone ) all other e36 struts are sealed units. If you are just dropping by 30mm, it probably won't notice much I imagine, sports are a weeny bit lower from stock. stock sport bilsteins and eibach/H&R springs = good idea. Takes a lot to beat a b6 billy IMO.

Thanks for this. I'm actually trying to raise the ride height (sacrilege, I know) - it's currently lowered 40mm at the front 30mm at the rear and I'm after a bit more clearance under the rear arches (tyres are rubbing), so I thought a 15mm or 20mm drop might do the trick - ideally I thought I'd just get standard OEM springs, but I have no idea how the 328i Sport springs differ to the boggo 328i ones, and I can't find any OEM 328i Sport springs anywhere. Does that sound stupid?

sport stuff is BMW only. there isn't a lot of it on the cars, but BM only for those. you can get the rear billies from ECP, but they are more expensive than main stealer- WTF?! I probably have a set of stock sport suspension at work secondhand if you want. its what I do- I break BMWs

But there is some difference in suspension around 1992, which makes compatiblity a bit more challenging.
Not sure about the change and the precise date, but realoem.com should be able to point you out.

thats mainly for anti roll bars and links. early cars use a shorter anti rollbar with drop links on the struts, later ones have lollipop mounts on the wishbones and a longer bar mounted slightly further forward on the chassis
