OK, my amazing computing skillz0rz seem to have deserted me and I can't find the post about painting with rollers. Basically I'm thinking about painting the Volvo red oxide, and rollering it on a la Fussel Tuning is looking like a good option. So, do I need a special type of roller? Can I roller on any kind of paint? (I'm not thinking B&Q Magnolia Emultion, but possibly army surplus gear...) Not that fussed about the finish as all my cars are rough looking b*ggers ;D

my friend used some military paint on his s13, and he red scotch britedised the paintwork first, then put some thinners in and used some gloss rollers from focus DIY. very few visible roller marks.
dunno if the same applies for red oxide?

Gloss rollers work fine. Keying the paint with aforementioned Scotchbriteâ„¢ pads is the real secret. Not overdoing the paint is another. Better to put two thinner coats on than one thick one. You could always wet & dry with wet soapy water between coats to flatten it off and give a smoother finish. Good luck!
Oh, and I thought of red oxiding mine, I've even done the sills red oxide to A) cover the black and B) to see how it looked.

is there any other types of soapy water Of course! You wouldn't want to use heavy water, or white water, deep water could be nasty as well, unless you used a snorkel.....

Cheers for the replies! So, I'll be on the look-out for some paint for when the weather brightens up I reckon. Not entirely sure what colour it's gonna be but I'm thinking red oxide at the moment. More important things to do on it first though, like an MOT... if your going to do this dean, wait till i come down ;D ;D Haha, I'll get the beers and the paint in ready!
