ok so the engine in my p100 was broke, with a snapped crank, so got a mk1 mondeo td to replace the engine.
had to change the sump over, but the crank shaft oil seal housing was completely different, so had to use the old one.
how ever I cant find a gasket for it anywhere(one between the alloy crankshaft oil seal housing and the block, flywheel end), even ford have discounted them.
so I need to make one, however I'm abit confused as this
mondeo block the bit hole had a bung in it, once removed was same as old block, with a hole drilled and tapped for the housing, so now the housing fits as it should
how ever the gasket on the old engine covers this hole up(kinda), but the housing has a recess where this hole is, I assume to allow some oil in, but why would the make the original gasket go over the hole?
Any ideas? shall I make the gasket to go over the hole? only thing is the paper ill be using probally wont stand up as well as the original one.
thanks for reading any advice would be great
