I'm looking to buy some cutting discs. They need to be way skiiny I'm looking for like 1/32" and proper sharp, good clean cutting. Need to slice nice through double skinned section. The ones I have are all a bit too fat Like 1/16" or worse. and of course, I am budget constrained. Recommended brands and suppliers please.

Dronco discs are good. My local shop (WH Clark - no website or mail order alas) sells me a pack of 10 in a metal tin for just under a tenner. German made, TUV approved, would recommend them to anyone.

about 1mm thick disc then?
get down your local market and buy some stainless steel cutting discs - most sellers have 1mm or 2mm

It baffles me how hard these 1mm disks are to get hold of! No normal shops sell them, screwfix want about £4 each but don't have any in stock.
The disks most places sell as "cutting" disks are about 1/4 inch thick! I'd be faster trying to kick my way through the panel.
Anyway, Dronco ones seem decent and bluespot/bluepoint or whatever work "ok" but don't last long.

you can buy 0.8mm ones I've found them to be ok but vunerable to shattering if you slip and clout them, screwfix sell them.
Personally I'd stick with a quality 1.0mm one I've found them best
Buy the best brand possible not curse word brand ones, cheap ones really are a false economy.
Can't help with the supply as I have a mate who's a fabricator, buys them 250 at a time gets 100 free and gives me 50 every order as I service his car ect..
I used to buy them from several places, never found them hard to get at most car bodyshop or paint shops/trade car part outlets/screwfix or even ebay

Buy the best brand possible not curse word brand ones, cheap ones really are a false economy. I bought some from Aldi which were very good and cheap. Next time they were on offer a few months later I bought around 10 packs and their quality isn't a patch on the originals. I'm slowly working my way though the "stock" of Aldi 1mm discs but won't waste my money on them again as they are, as you say, false economy. I've been considering a cheap plasma cutter. Ok cheap means made in China but looking on eBay they are getting near to the price of just over 100 discs from Machine Mart There are UK sellers of these chinese machines so you also have a guarantee. paul H

I buy 1mm Dronco discs from these peeps... www.engweld.co.uk they have a branch in Grimsby but there may be one nearer you. The Dronco discs seem to last pretty well and cut nice and cleanly. Never had one shatter or anything either.

I get mine from builder supplies that is a local place but i'm sure most wholesale hardware shops sell em at good price.
I get 25 for 14 quid. Best thing is to check local dealers, also good as they can give you a discount.

I bought some cheapo ones recently - I used one and threw the others straight in the bin, I swear they were like those dodgy brakes pads a bit back and made of compressed grass... :-) It worn out before it had turned 360 degress.
Use the Bosch ones but I find any a bit hit and miss, some times one will last, then the next wears out far too fast.

I use the 1mm Makita discs from Screwfix. They go through anything and last forever, as a bonus

The best ones by FAR are made Rhodius, they are about 0.8mm they last at least twice as long as Bosch ones!!!! They are just hard to get hold of of. Think you can get them on Ebay or just googled & found www.exetertoolshop.co.uk/index.php?cat=NEW_ARRIVALSRhodius XT70 Cutting Discs is what you are looking for I've used these for years when I can get them & nothing has come anywhere near as good as them!

They will wear depending on the composite you are cutting. Different steel works differently.

Someone mentioned plasma cutters, are these recommended as a good alternative? I know they probably are but I know nothing about them and I have heard some negative stuff in the past.
We have a broken plasma cutter on the farm, I wondering if it's worth trying to repair it.
