Considering nobody seemed to know what was going on here until like the day of the event it went good. I think Retro-Riders made up at least 35% of the contingent. Think the boss of the cafe was pleased to see us. The lady who got my tea said she thought I'd come in Batman's car. I was glad not to be charged £3 for football parking... Anyway, pics... Da venue odd place. Go use the toilets. fascinating place out back. Anyway.... Some guys line up... Nice old Consul Capri. I've always wanted one of these. I suspect I can't afford one now. Two suspicious Northern Oiks loiter. Looks like one has been shopping. Hide and seek was a popular game I don't often say this about a 4 pot, but this sounded lovely Tomato Cresta as seen @ the Griffin last week Somewhat un-prostreet Corsair is likewise Rubelion "Before" 1.4 PSA Diesel power trike, if Paul is to be believed. I'll let you make your own mind up on that one. Dean's John's Daphne. '60 Bel Air, I think this used to belong to a mate of a mate. RA40 is it? Again, words not commonly uttered by me, but nice Beemer. Very nice. Mini was joined later by a very tidy early Metro in yellow on Revos. 2 very different british sports cars Mock tudor half timber semi detatched Morris Minor how very British Classic Capper again. And again Rear view of the trike. Apparently this has also nipped down from the North East to be with us. I can imagine its a very economical way to nip. Imagine Paul's horror when he spotted a fly splat on his 205! Next one is 2nd Wednesday in August. Be there or don't be in a closed down cattle market at night.

Right annoyed about this evening... left work at 1800 and the queue to turn into Meadow Lane stretched to West Bridgford, so I assumed parking in the cattle market would be impossible.
Wrong again.
Oh well, try again next month.

It was a nice meet! Your Trans Am sounds like Satan, Alistair. I love it!
Hairnet - you got back safe to Mancunia it seems! Good to see you mate. However, I cannot make the Celeste mine. As much as I want it, I need to control myself. I can't go buying another retro, or I'll never get the Benz done! And I WILL get that done. ;D

Sorry I missed this one guys, especially considering I work 5 mins away - I was following the red Cresta on the way to pick Kim up at 5.45 as it pulled into the Cattle Market and thought of you guys...
Next time I think that this will be a good meet to come to!
Rysz.

I'll copy / paste my pics from the other thread as this seems to be doing better! ;D Nathan - shame we missed you! Are you at Papplewick next Weds? Well, it started off from a rumour that there might, possibly, be some sort of classic car meet at the Cattle Market, although details were sketchy. Fortunately the local (and not so local) RR community stepped up and made sure that if there wasn't a car meet, there will be now. As it happens, the classic meet was actually taking place after all. We had a mini RR get together beforehand when Tonycocacola, Jizzy Gillespie and Hairnet all came round to mine for a brew and a look around the Merc, Bond and Celeste. Much ribbing was endured about how long the Merc is taking and how ugly the Bond is. ;D As Hairnet had come from Manchester on his bike, he hopped in with me in the Celeste, and Jack and Dave took the W124 Coupe which they'd driven down from Durham in. I was a bit worried at this point that there wasn't going to be much of an event, as these guys had travelled a fair distance! Here's what greeted us when we arrived... ^ We passed this on the way. Very pretty indeed! ^ The Celeste is for sale. Interested parties should contact donttellhimpike. I've had use of this car for a while and it's been faultless. I really really want it, but my retro addiction needs to be controlled. ^ Metro subramed, Peugeot diesel-powered trike. Mental. The owner and his wife had rode this from the North East, and weirdly TCC and Jizzy knew him. Small world sometimes, ain't it?! ^ John's stunning Celica. Also for sale! Although I don't think I could part with that. ^ Alistair thundered in with his new toy. What an awesome sounding beast! Thanks for giving it the beans on the way out, Akku! Music to our ears. ^ "How fast does it go, mister?" "Can I have a go, mister?" ^ PaulMI16 made an appearance ^ The owner built this himself! I've seen him screaming around the area. It has a Reliant engine. Brilliant! ^ We watched the owner drive past a couple of times - he wasn't sure if his Metro would be welcomed. It most definitely was! RR member too - nice to meet you. ^ Gem arrived in her nicely lowered Touring. Sorry I didn't get to speak to you! I think I got all the cars... hope I didn't miss any. It's a great venue for a car meet, and I'm hoping to be at the next one.

Excellent Pics Dean.
Yeah I shall be there as I seem to be lacking in the ability to get to local meets this season, plus the car needs running before the long trip to RRG.

Looks like a nice meet, wish we had one like that down here..
Cool place that cattle market, is the huge Military surplus place still there? used to love that when work used to send me up there to go to the auction house, used to buy filled, full size CO2 bottles there for £20!
Good caf too iirc bacon sarnie and tea for about £2 but that was a good few year ago!

Looked like a good meet with great potential for growing. I finished work too late to to make an appearance. Hopefully next time!!
p.s. I think this may well clash with Trowell meets..

Oh, what it is to be spoilt for choice for local meets, eh?
Nottingham is suddenly developing a "scene". Blimey, who'd ever have thought it.
