Wow,
I'm actually of a Mauritian decendance, and i go see family every few years. There are still some 510's being used as taxis out there.
Also every year theres a big rally where all the highly tuned AE82's/6's and Lancer turbo's come out and tear across the countryside.

Excellent photos Datsuncherry - superb spotting! I love how these sorts of cars are kept going in such countries - alot of initative must be employed when replacing broken parts Thing is its normally worth it too, as unlike in this country the body work is normally pretty sound. Great stuff I always love spotted/photo threads Yes I know what you mean - I went to Cologne (Germany) Last weekend and saw loads of great retro & euro styled stuff that I would have loved to have shared with you, if I hadn't have left my camera behind - Doh! (must get myself a decent camera phone or memory)

Me too! ;D
Except I can only afford to go once every tens years....most of the cars I photographed have Japanese engines in them - a tribute to their reliability. What was odd was the very low number of Fords out there, really odd. It seems that the Japanese rule. 1:4 cars out there is a Toyota, and Corollas of all generations seem to be the most popular.

I noticed alot of Datsuns/Nissans out there.
thinking about everyone i know out there owns a nissan of some sort! reason why theres so many Japanese cars is due to the amount of manufacturers willing to import there. japan is reletively closer than most others, therefore cheaper to transport and cheaper for people to buy out there.
where abouts did you stay out there?
