I've also got a hankering for a Rover SD1 ,.. on top of all the other gubbins I want. The exhaust note thread got me thinking about them again,..
There are a couple in Practical Classics for about £995,.. 3500 ,..
ARGH ..... TOO MANY CARS!! NOT ENOUGH SPACE/TIME/MONEY!!!

We've got some SD1 parts by the way if anyone is interested, including a set of alloys.

Love 'em! A four door Ferrari Daytona! Was it David Bache that styled them? Or Harris Mann, can't remember...

Aw, don't compare them to Daytonas, the Rover 3500's a far better car. It's practical, it's cheap to buy, and even a British Leyland is more reliable than a Ferrari!

Are these actually out there, you see some great ones racing in the Barac Racing League but on the road they seem few and far between, I assume this is because most have rotted away?
Can you slot a late Range Rover V8 straight in?

As far as I know, you might have to watch what distributor and alternator etc... you use, I've been told a Range Rover V8 won't go into an MGB without those kind of mods.

It's pleasing to note how well-informed our Retro-Riders are...all those 1's instead of misconceived i's have been noted.
You clever lot!

I had a lowly 2600 for a while until the rear core plug blew out. It was a hugely entertaining car with lots of gadgets and really chuckable. My mate had a 3500, tuned some with stiff suspension. That flew. The engine went into his P6 eventually. Nice.

That's a mad looking thing! I must get around to scanning and posting some pics I have of a 1955 Chev coupe witha Spitfire motor in it that was built here. Chev truck diff, Lenco drag racing 2 speed box, 2 speed supercharger welded together for 2 stage charging and was going to be listed in the guinness book as the most powerful registered car with 3,500hp and full road rego.
We only had V8 SD1s here and precious few manuals. Also our pollution laws meant that our Vittesse was less powerful than a standard UK one.

I moved house, about 40 miles away on a smaller property (no longer 3 acres, about 1/2 acre) but with 2 car shed with woodheater, space for 4 cars on the driveway and about 150 metres from the ocean. The moving truck fell through a couple of days before the move, so we spent about 3 weeks with the ute and a trailer moving stuff. One time I did 3 trips and got home at 4 am, fell into bed, up at 11 or so and off again. I don't want to move house again for a while, i can tell you!!!
I have also found a new home for my Pug 604, it is going to the President of the South Australian Pug club who already has 3 one of which is a genuine injected one ( never sold here) and is getting a 604 Landaulet stretch limo shipped out from Germany ( they didn't make many of those either) so I is going to a good home. I have also finally got around to putting the new ( secondhand) gearbox and diff in my 403 so I could drive it down here. True to form, the days I had to do it were raining!
It's good to be back.
