Just to add to the others swimming on the board (sorry), Just a quickie, i'm gonna reinsure the (standard) Sapph tomorrow, i'll need to add the (Modified) 3 door too soon. if the policy is right i'll insure the 3 door tomorrow too!
So anyone reccommend any good people to ring who offer these kind of multi car policys, or match the no claims off the first car?
Thanks
On the list to ring after following these threads:
Footman James Towergate Direct line (now i'm old enough to try em!) Admiral (cant remember why) Lancaster Adrian Flux (currently with them through HIC?) Performance Direct?
and i'll look in the mags too.

Well this thread died a death! ;D Fair enough really given the amount of insurance questions that naturally come up. So FYI after half a day on the tellingphone: Most policies need to be seperate. Flux continued to be competitive, both on the standard Sapph and on the modified car. Was really impressed with Lancaster, bloke i spoke to was helpful so I went with them instead this time on the Sapph. Probably getting the V8 insured later with Roadsure who were also very impressive, specialise in customs, bikes, second cars etc. All Manchester postcodes are a no-no for this kind of car though Just my bit, hope this helps some of ya....

sorry mate, i never saw this footman james do a multi car policy, you should have called them They base it on your newest car, and then older cars are priced at about £12 per £'000 of values. Thats what i was told by them a couple months ago anyway

Cheers, it followed Lewis's thread Yeah when i phoned FJ they said 2 policies and were 100 quid more for the sapph, so i just went with it. works out ok at the mo, cheap enough just to have the one insured for now, just gotta finish the 3door before RCS now! also it seems a Cat 1 alarn or owt else makes a difference to the policy. insurance is a sticky and messed up business thats for sure!

I rang Footman James the other day to ask about adding the Sceptre to the Rambler policy... they still had the details from when I had the Sceptre insured with them before. Couldn't add it on tho'... I got the impression because it's modified . may have to have a rethink on using it this summer, I don't really want to pay for another policy just for 3 months use...

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

is the rambler on a classic policy? if so, you need to take it off that, and stick them both on a multi car policy. thats what they told me i would need to do, and my bug is modified but they said it shouldnt be a problem.
thats what they told me anyway, i am yet to see if they are true to their word ...

Maybe my V8 Sierra is too modified to be with FJ, who knows, it went up into the thousands or not allowed with a Manchester postcode with some companies, its a big place and my new flat is in a posh area! Seriously made me think about getting something more standard, after all, the V8 Sierra was originally meant to replace the Sapph as a daily driver! Keep us posted what ever happens. If all goes to plan my insurance could be even more complicated next year so we'll see!

Maybe my V8 Sierra is too modified to be with FJ, who knows mate, the guy on the phone said he thought my bug would be fine - and there isnt much of that left as standard. still, i'll believe what they say when i see it!

^ Thats what i was thinking! I know V8 can be a swear word for insurers. When i wanted a V8 Granada when i was 21 the standard companies i phoned said i'd need to be over 30 (and i'm not that old yet so not totally accurate)! so i let the bargain go. for the best i think, much more mature now So either i get a stockport address or do summat with a standard fitment engine...Hmmm

There is a postcode risk register. 5 groups from A - E as I recall. The best is A the worst is E. If you live in Notts the best you can hope for is a D. Theres also "blacklist" for really awful places.
Footman James never sed to allow stock yank classics and stock british classics on the same policy. Even though all cars were over 30 years old the LHD stuff had to be insured on a dfferent policy. Then they changed that rule and all my cars go on one policy now which saves a few quid. They wouldn't let me put a Storrock blower on my Moggy Minor and they refused cover on a mates Humber Hawk because it had flames painted on it. They've also declined to cover other people I know for yanks over 30 or quoted huge premiums.
Surely the Rambler is moddified as well though? Or was that the point you were making?

Admiral (cant remember why) I mentioned them on here. They are one of the few that give multi-car on modern stuff, but I don't know what they're like with older/modified stuff. They'll do an 'all the modern cars in the house' policy which may be useful to some. I don't have this policy with them, so you'll have to check their web-site or call them for more. Cheers

Yes, the Rambler is modified... ... I had the Sceptre insured with Footman James from day one, when it was standard... when I bought the Rambler I swapped the policy to that, as it was only a few quid more, and at the time the plan was to sell the Sceptre. I was hoping to put the sceptre on the same policy, for a few quid more, and have some cheap summer motoring....
