fair do's, exact same setup as on landrover (even the oil catcher and drain)
i think i got a bum steer as someone previously said the leather seal had been superceded with neoprene version. it looked like you got both types of seal for same application

I'm a long way off using it yet, unfortunately.  The list of stuff I have to do is unpleasantly large, and only shrinks very very slowly. (My cab was only held on by wishful thinking and rust, for example, and it's taken me a few months to get it to the point there's actually real metal for the rear cab mount to hold on to.) |

fair do's, exact same setup as on landrover (even the oil catcher and drain) i think i got a bum steer as someone previously said the leather seal had been superceded with neoprene version. it looked like you got both types of seal for same application I think that's probably down to the lack of context for the size of the various seals.  The outer in this picture is the neoprene tracta joint seal, the inner is the modern hub seal. The carpet is... well, it's the carpet. (I would like to thank whoever linked the xmod page for the tracta joint seals; I was having a curse word of a time finding them until then. Still, my reading comprehension wasn't great, because I only got half as many of the seal springs as I needed. Ho-hum.  ) |

New modern seals arrived thanks to Tamber  Dangerous can't start before the 10th September due to prior commitments and I'm still waiting for Debbie from ETS Trucks to confirm the MOT date. It will be after I get back from Malta and let's hope we get Mr. Bray again because it will short circuit half an hour of "you can't test that 'cos it doesn't have it/one". Horrible side reflector/markers ordered because they're cheap and I can sort something out more period over the winter, I hope  So while I was waiting I came up with a few safety signs for the rear. Being a special truck they needed to be a bit special themselves This is my number two fear after the nightmare of some tw@t cutting into my carefully hoarded braking distance.  The next two might be a bit intellectual   Other suggestions welcome |

Sign one; I'd have "Suicide" on both arrows. Sign three; does anyone do physics any more? Or will you need a huge one explaining Newtons Laws all over it? "Back off or die"? and for the front, "By the time you read this, you will have been reduced to your lowest molecular level"? No, then we'd need another explanation sign.  "We painted this blood red for a reason!" Applicable anywhere. Leave 'em in no doubt. That's my view. |
