I did something a bit silly the other day and bought a set of alloys of a traveller for a oner. I know, stupid boy and all that, but they're 7x18 five spokes and they'll look the nuts on the escort or the minor. Anyway, looking at them the other night and i spot a crack about an inch long on the inside of one of them. Now, assuming that this is all thats wrong with them does anyone know if it can be repaired or not. I don't know if they're buckled or not yet but if they are they'll have to go in the bin and i'll put it down to experience. Still, nothing ventured nothing gained.

Thats good news then. As long as it wont cost an arm and a leg. Something tells me that wont be the end of my troubles though. £100 is just way too cheap

7x18 is not a good look. I have 17 x 7.5 on the bimmer and consider them too narrow for the height. Flog them blind to some chavs. Should make £200 back off them, and might deepen the gene pool in the process.

I wouldent fix them, if an alloy has a crack, how did it get it? Most likely its been bashed ( i have personally done this!) and this means they wont be straight, if welded then they will probably distort even more.
But if it dosent cost much then it might be worth trying, just get them checked for trueness after welding.

There are plenty of places around that can repair cracked/damaged alloys I know of a couple round this area. Try to find one with a good reputation though, at the end of the day a bodged repair and subsequent failure could be lethal.
