Driving back home from work tonight i passed 2 new Dodge Ram's, one even had the number plate "RAM V8".
I've noticed they've been on the increase, and it's not like i live in a highly populated of fashionable area.
So are they becoming the new Impreza? A slightly above average car, for a bit more money, that becomes as common as muck, coz every Tom, Dick and Harry buys one?
I've been in a Scooby and a Ram, both awesome cars no doubt. I wouldn't buy a scoob coz they're everywhere. At the moment i'd love a Ram, but will i change my mind if it follows down the path of the great road rally car? I think i probably would.
Am i alone in thinkin like this?

Pffffff! Rams are nasty IMHO. It wouldn't surprise me that a well-moneyed (sp) charver-type would buy such a vulgar vehicle to be honest, thinking he's a premiership footballer. Seeing as every b*gger seems to have an Impreza these days, those who want to "flash the cash" are bound to be looking for something else. I drove a new Impreza WRX UK-Spec a while back. Have to say, it's pretty damned impressive! You're doing 100 before you know it. All I could think was "wow, this running gear in a Saubaru Brat would ROCK"!!!! ;D

The Dodge Ram as in the big double cab pickup? One of the reasons big, double cabbed, road-oriented pickups are so common these days is that they make cost efficient company cars, as far as I'm aware they can be classified as commercial vehicles for the firm, even when they're being used as private cars of the employees, as such the firm, and resultantly the employee, pays less for a big pickup as a company car than they might for an Impreza for example, and can still get a juicy engine, four seats and four wheel drive. Cunning little tax dodge when you think about it.

I keep seeing those massive Chrysler 300C things belting around the York-Harrogate area, always seem to be moving quite quickly I do believe theres been an increase in these sorts of big yank wagons because of hip-hop culture and the likes of Mr. Beckham and co. going for similar

I would love one, I've always been a fan of American pickups and I really like the Ram.
There is at least one SRT10 in Wolverhampton.
I don't think they are the new Impreza, for a start the owners don't seem to buy matching clothes to drive them.

Rams round here seem to be driven by people with either a dirt bike or three in the back or they are towing a speedboat. thats what they are built for. They are the better of the performance orientated pickups according to the road test reviews. Its the most useable. The Lightning you can't even open the tailgate due to the rear spoiler, now what does that tell you before you even check the towing weight specs! LOL
The 300C is one of the few new cars that makes me wet. I love them. The 300C has the Hemi V8 in it and there was a leak of an internal memo at Chrysler printied in a couple of the magazines. "we have been testing the EU emission pack 300C on the German autobahn and have discovered that the cruise control will not engage at speeds above 171 MPH" well, Mercedes management threw a fit because they hadn't limmted it to 155 as per the "gentlemans agreement" between the german car groups. To which Chrysler said "we aint german and we aint gentlemen". And then theres the SRT-8 with the bigger more powerful 6.1 Hemi.
Sadly the "wrong kind of owners" will ruin the cars image over here. But then nobody ever takes yank cars seriously in this country anyway. We're all too busy trotting out silly stereotypes and all that.
My other fave modern is the Cadillac CTS-V an absolute beast of a car, out performs and out handles the BMW M3 and that takes some doing (its not just my opinion that the M3 was the best handling performance saloon of the last 20 years - until the Cadillac) LS2 power monster V8. I drove its brother the SRRX and I thought it was a superb machine. Also now available in RHD. Saw a CTS on my way into work this morning but it was the slightly lightweight V6 version. I mean, buy a Cadillac with a 6 in it? Why?

American car clubs are the reason I tend not to admit owning an American cars... Well, some of them are anyway... I do not enjoy line dancing, country music nor do I own a stars and strips flag of any size.

It seems the L200 Mitsus and the Harley branded fords aren't big enough now. It seems even in sleepy run down warrington, everybody wants a ram. Especially the 2500 diesel.

I had a serious yearning for a big hilux pick up on fatty tyres big springs and chrome wheels, but these posh pick ups seemed to take off. So I got bored of the idea. Would still like a rough and ready Hilux though. don't think they are the new Scooby, but maybe for the slightly matured Scooby owner. On a similar note I got cut up and burned off by a angry looking Will Mellor some months ago in his posh Range Rover Sport type thing!

Actually thinking about it it wasn't enough said
- Dreadfull cars (had one as a hire car in the US - you can hide a MACK truck in the blind spot!!!)
- Predominantly owned by USA wanna be families living the good life (went to a Polo show last year and the whole of billing was crawling with em - stars and stripes on big flags and stand by your man music - :puke:
- not even practical (tiny boot luggage space, cramped in the back)
- No performance from any of the models (cept maybe the diesel)
Anyway - BTT - I like the Dodge Ram for it's practicality and being a GM Fan it hurts to say it's one of the best looking of it's class much better than the Chevy version!!!
