Decided to see what would happen if I cut the paint back as i has been laquered when it was painted, so I used autoglym colour restorer the ultra gloss polish on the door and It came up nice and shiny only did a quick job, quite pleased with the result. Frankie

It's begining to look much better .
Will you ditch the tacho , or at least reposition it?
Love the choc brown interior and its combination with the (fake) wood . Very appealing and sooooo eighties .
Will look brill when back in Yellow .
Well done so far .

Hate that tacho!!!!!!mind you it does have shift light!!! Still hate it though Frankie

Actually that reminds me i've got one of those dashes with tacho sitting on my window ledge (inside) of my bedroom and i think maybe another in the shed leftovers from bygone days ha ha ha

Blimey that paint hasn't come up bad at all has it If you really wanted to push the boat out I reckon a good machine polish could get it even glossier but i'd be more than happy with it at that stage tbf! Change your blue stripe for yellow and I think you'd be onto a winner Get it lowered and it'll look hard as frick! Great work with getting the interior back in! Looks a million times better! Nice to see this being saved good work!

Done a bit more on the Cortina yesterday, not much as payday is not till Friday Little bit more polishing and managed to refit the chrome work around the windows. Got the headlining arranged, and the A post chrome work arranged. Will be able to pay for them on friday so hopefully they will be here next week. Even managed to get a nice picture of the magnificent round bar front bumper, before I take it off and replace the chrome proper bumper it should have. I think its starting to look like a half decent car now rather than dodgey looking Car it came to me as. Frankie

That's such a result with the paintwork. As said, it looks quite presentable now. Sorting all the chromework, and a different colour stripe will transform it. Very well done to you, sir.

Revert to Yellow - Immediatley ! Agreed!! More of these saved the better as far as I am concerned. That is why I have two now. would like to get it similar to this one, ie granny spoiler, RS rear spoiler, deeps dish steels and carello spots. to me, that all the extras these cars need. May have located the proper rubbing strips for it too now. but we shall see. It will be going back to yellow as soon as I can afford it. Really thought the paint looked curse word before. So at the moment its the best it can be. hate the colour as I do. it really did look superb when it was yellow. Here is a pic of the other one. Frankie

Is it possible to use a fine wet and dry and carefully remove the black top coat and then buff up the yellow underneath? Might save you a bob or two on a respray.

Good to see a car being returned to its original (very cool) condition after an idiot got hold of it - so many end up being broken/bangered after the ruination! At least it is a nice sound shell.
It already looks a lot better with the chrome back on, the cut back and polish and the proper bumpers will help it no end!
Signal Yellow will look great when done.
Your red Crusader looks excellent!

Following the complaint from one of the previous owners of this car (a very good friend of mine) of the lack of progress on this Cortina. I am forced to put up pictures of today progress!!! And no Matt, I have not told them all that you did the superb modifications found on this car before I got it at all, Even though I could have because you derserve it NIPPER!!!!! seriously, though guys Matt is the guy who spent ages, getting tis car up to standard originaly. he had it looking mint, always gleaming in the signal yellow. and it had the best of every thing. He built it had his fun, and unfortunatly sold it. Honestly, This car was superb when he had it. but my mate fat guts is somewhat of a perfectionista and said he had his fun and now it was time to move on. Just wish I could have got it when he had it!! Hopefully he will join the site and post pics up of what it was like!!! If he gets another one the show circuit better watch out, and the sprint events better watch out. he builds a good one!!! Just a shame he sold it a bloke who ruined it !!! Hopefully I can salvage it. The work toda was getting the bumper changed over, re working bumper brackets to get the originals back on instead of the round bar. That work aside from the welding was carried out by my youngest son Callum (in red) and My step son Daine (in black) They worked very well together, good team work and even got the bumpers on straight!!! really proud of the pair of them. Start them on the retros young!! Callum already has his eye on the my red one already!!! cheeky sods only 9!!!! Hope you like the piccies Frankie

That looks immensely better now. If my brother and I's experience is anything to go by, having your Dad get you interested and involved in cars at age 9 is a sure way to get the addiction going strong. Of course it helps that our Mum got involved as well, we seem to be a family of car nuts.
