Cool, nothing better than a big block. Unless you figure on trying to change the oil in a lowered Oldsmobile on a gravel drive...

Is that a Canadian Poncho with Chevy power? I know a bunch of the Canadian models had Chevy running gear rather than Pontiac. Any of the RHD stuff we get over here is always 283 or 327 powered...

I'm not sure what the variations were cross border between Chev and Pontiac at the time. It was a looooooong time ago.

Is that a Canadian Poncho with Chevy power? I know a bunch of the Canadian models had Chevy running gear rather than Pontiac. Any of the RHD stuff we get over here is always 283 or 327 powered... Through the 60's I remember New Zealand always had Pontiacs, big ugly cars with 283 's in them, built in NZ from knocked down kits.,very few imported US cars, although Australia had a lot of the pontiac V8 powered cars in the 50's. Want some trivia,? the conrods in the first pontiac V8's are made from forged steel and are unbrakable. So what? they fit ALL other pontiac V8's including the 455 AND they fit the Chrysler hemis from 1951 thru 1958. I found this out when visiting an old rodder ( older than me even ) who had piles of the ponti engines and explained how he gets the rods ,sells them 'as is' to Ponti enthusiasts and throws the rest away. The first engines are only 257 cubes.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
