If your figure`s are from the wheel`s & Merc measured from the flywheel (most manufacture`s(?) do), your figure`s are not to bad . Good looking ride .  It says flywheel on the graph though :/ HC - any plans for engine mods? A quick rebuild would probably give you the missing horsies back! When's the next visit to the weighbridge? |

Well, as the title suggests, it looks like I've killed it  299,240 miles on the clock and a pesky missfire that no amount of tinkering with the ignition system would fix lead me to do a compression test.. Cyl 6 - 180psi (wow!) Cyl 5 - 180psi (double wow!) Cyl 4 - 165psi (ok..) Cyl 3 - 180psi (wow!) Cyl 2 - 180psi (more wow!) Cyl 1 - 70psi (schmeeeg!)  I imagine it's done a ring. Big thanks to the guys at Area 52 for your help trying to get it running vaguely smoothly, I was at least able to make the 2.5hr drive home and have actually been using it a bit since but it's pretty horrible! I hope to bodge it through to the big 300k on this engine as that would be quite an achievement but we'll see.. Future plans? All I'll say for now is watch this space..  |

Wrong and wrong! Sorry chaps, my thinking is much more inside the box on this one.. There are to many awesome bolt-in(ish) Benz engines to be messing around with anything else ;D Love the final shot Andy, the Benz looks like a killer. So, what next? Some kind of moderned 'Kompressed' lump? It's a shame the engine's gone, but at the same time it's a fantastic opportunity! Looking forward to what's coming next.

I know what it is but my lips are sealed Gutted about the demise of the engine but you make damn sure you get the 300K on it even if it is on it's death bed. Ideally in a mahooosive sideways slide while the pistons break out from the block. What a fitting way to go ;D BTW...plain rice or jam sarnies are even cheaper than beans on toast LOL |

i LOVE this car! engine dieing is a blessing in disguise. straight swap a 3.0 m103 for 188bhp and then maybe experiment with a turbo? few other options available but this is probably the most straight forward. I'm trying to find a suitable 2.6 for a similar project. i have both a 16v and Evo kit in my garage waiting for my next 190, and this time i want some power! needs a skyline engine though i am following a thread with an s14 engine in a 190e |

Thanks all don't worry, I'm trying to see the positive side! Rubbish timing tho (xmas, snow everywhere, been made redundant, moan moan..) As much as I'd love a Judd V8 there's no way the pennies would stretch to that. That would also require a LOT of work to get it in and would mean replacing pretty much everything else! What I have planned is near enough bolt-in and leaves the door wide open to more craziness in the future.. Between 2 of you you've pretty much got it 299368 miles as of tonight - 632 to go.. |

Sorry to hear about dead Merc If you make it to 300k, you HAVE to do it sideways No point in just whacking a new set of rings in it and cleaning up the head? Probably easier to swap the engine mind! Edit - my guess is a swap to a 3.0 M103 for plug and playness. 3.2 24v would be the ideal option, but more wiring messing. |
