Friday night, after a few beers, browsing the bay looking at 4x4s, decided to look at Saab turbos too. Found a likely candidate, did a classic insurance quote with Peter James. Added a bid to my snipe software, went to bed. Totally forgot about it. Just now, on my laptop, hears a bong noise. Whats that. Up pops bid successful. Oh poop. I appear to have just bought this. Not a 16v, but least it is a Saab 900 Turbo in the proper colour.

Bad thing is I just got made redundant, good thing is I have my redundancy through so can pay for it and the insurance, which is £141 for a year unlimited miles, SDP and occasional commute, with Peter James.
I now have the difficult decision to make, insure it get it home, tart it up, get it re-ticketed, flog it on and lose out on the rest of the insurance, or keep it and enjoy.

keep and enjoy, especially if your insurance is only that on a turbo

I'd keep it for a year, spend the time tidying it up then sell on when insurance is up. Aint these meant to be quite reasonable on fuel as long as you aint racing the boost gauge? ;D

Thanks for the support guys. Not bad on fuel, but not as nice as the 16v. They are K-Jet injected, rather than Lucas or Bosch LH.
But at least it has the intercooler/APC so it should be the full 155bhp last of a kind model, and should have the rear handbrake.

Bloody hell, that's a bargain! I'd enjoy it for a year, do a bit of tidying and stuff and see how much you like it after that.

I got a turbo, I got a turbo, I got a turbo. Woop Woop. I've had 2 900 turbos and a 9000 Aero in the past. As long as it drives OK, I like them. Never had an 8v though. Supposedly gruntier and laggier than the 16v, but less top end power.

Well, the cash is out, and I collect tomorrow. Going to put full classic insurance on it, then drive it back. I'm sure it will be fine, As long as it starts it will get me back to Warrington, only about 30 miles.

I'm lucky in that I was looking for a load lugger and was thinking 4x4, but now I have a classic, a toy and a load lugger all in one, and for a bargain price that wouldn't have even got a sniff of something rotten, 4x4 with a dogs name and reputation.
