Uh-hu Thought so We didn't get them. I think. Ours were basic stripped out econo-boxes in several colours. Forget sporty. Or plentiful

Bout £600 fully comp at the age of 24 sir, but mines modified quite a bit. Costs the same as insuring my Turbo Tecnics XR4x4 ;D
Should be pretty cheap for a standard one with a company like Tesco Insurance, they are something like group 15.

If your wife wanted a sporty convertible maybe you could meet in the middle and get an (Escort mk 3)XR3i cabriolet? A little 'hairdresser' for most Ford fans, but to me just make sure it's not white or dripping with Max Power bodykits and you should have a good car.

S1's are worth a bloody fortune in good nick How much of a fortune? He says it's better than the one for sale in the back of August's Retro Car Mag. (page 2 of the Cars For Sale section)

S1's are lovely, better looking and quicker than the S2. Just check the engine for all the usual CVH problems. Rattles in the top and bottom ends, knackered hydraulic tappets etc, also check the g/box changes nicely, should have a nice positive shift. If the g/box is knackered, you can always put an escort diesel box in, lovely ratios in those, stronger too.

And check for crash damage. As well as rot around the struts, all Fords with struts (most Fords) rot badly at the tops of the struts when not caught early, and around the headlamps too.
