Lovely! A pair of Hurricanes buzzed us a couple of weeks ago as I was picking up Ickle_Seth from my mums. Low flying over London suburbs must be cool ;D (Goodwood Revival 08) Bottom A/C is a Spitfire, look at the wings, and a longer nose probably with a Griffon engine, and it could be a PR one. Andy.

I was at Yorkshire Air Museum on Saturday, heard a bit of rumbling while I was in a hangar, walked outside to see a Spitfire lumber past overhead, before banking round and doing an extremely past pass. Sounded absolutely incredible! Gotta love the retro planes.

Looks to me like Miss Marple and her friend have clocked him and are pretending to talk about the lemon curds in the basket whilst discreetly spying on his antics ;D Great pics mate

Was this at the Severn Vally Railway? There was a ww2 thing on last week. Quite a few folks in period dress including one black fellow in an SS uniform There was a big biplane flew over, the size of a dc10 but with two wings. There were a few old cars including a huge black buick with an inline 8 engine. I should have took my camera.

Nice shots Alastair. Here's one I've taken of a Lancaster. Would have been a nicer shot on a blue sky day though

These have wet my appetite for this weekends RAF Waddington Air Show, heading up there tomorrow to photo some of the planes coming in for the weekend, and will then be there on Sunday for the show itself.

where we had our old workshop in Brightwell cum Sotwell there a guy who often flys a Hurricane around right overhead, he owns the plane and has a field right next to the yard so we'd get free ringside seats to watch it take off, whizz around (mostly upside down it seemed !!) and then come into land, one day last year it appeared with a spitfire alongside and we were treated to half hour of these two noisy buggers performing their very own battle of britain - right above our heads ..... fantastic stuff

Just down the road from where I am working at the moment is a guy who owns two Mustangs and a Harvard; he is rebuilding a Merlin engine for a customer in a shed round the back of his house and allegedly has a race Merlin being shipped in for a rebuild. Usually on a Sunday, if the weather is OK he goes out 'for a spin' - fast! He was chatting about upsetting the Police chopper last time I was there.... ;D Have a butchers at this, though...

No apologies needed as far as I'm concerned. If the sound of a Merlin on full chat doesn't stir your soul, you may as well be dead.So true ;D ;D The only one that got me more exited was the Vulcan at Farnborough air show, a low pass along the runway then a near vertical climb on full chat, oooo yes baby LOL Then again the hairs on the back of my neck always stand to atttention when the Harrier does its bow at the end of its bit

The only one that got me more exited was the Vulcan at Farnborough air show, a low pass along the runway then a near vertical climb on full chat, oooo yes baby LOL Yes! Saw the Vulcan at Finningley when I was a kid. It was the first time I'd felt that feeling that only a machine generating immense power can give. The memory of it going into a vertical climb and making me feel like the earth was going to shatter below my feet will never leave me. Engines are cool.

I know where you're coming from - the first time this happened to me was at Duxford, years ago. There was a USAAF truck parked up with some rowdy aircrew on board (when you used to be able to picnic at the end of the runway) and when a F-something took off they were yelling and whooping about it; what they didn't know was next up was an EE Lightning...... I'll let you work out what happened next but they shut up and it took a while to get my hearing back!
