Sometimes you just happen to be in the right place at the right time, just so happening to be rolling with a 300mm lens on your DSLR. Shot this a couple of weeks ago, got buzzed by him from a local military event, stopped car, grabbed camera and got these shots before he packed up and went home. The top one is the money shot, no? Apologies for non automobile content.

No apologies needed for Spitfire content, good stuff indeed.
I like the banking bottom one best but would be more than happy capturing either.

No apologies needed as far as I'm concerned. A few years ago I was watching an awards ceremony at a stage rally at RAF Colerne in Wiltshire when we heard the sound of an approaching Spit, he then proceeded to give us an impromptu flying display lasting a good five minutes. The crowd were silent throughout, then erupted into spontaneous applause as he flew off into the Wiltshire skies. Magnificent. If the sound of a Merlin on full chat doesn't stir your soul, you may as well be dead.

Got buzzed by a Lancaster last week at home, it was so low it drowned out the kids in the garden, didn't have time to grab my camera or even my phone though. Top shots, old war birds look great flying.

I'm lucky where I work as there's a mkIX Spitfire in the hangar across from me, still in full working order Every now and then, they take it up, and do the obligitory low pass over the hangers. Absolutely awesome when it pulls up 30ft above your head ;D

Lovely! A pair of Hurricanes buzzed us a couple of weeks ago as I was picking up Ickle_Seth from my mums. Low flying over London suburbs must be cool ;D (Goodwood Revival 08)

They flew over us too while I was riding the London to Brighton on the 20th. Epic lift for the next climb. Almost made my day.
Good shots by the way.

Cracking shot's there Akku. I've got an old buddy who comes in my local who goes flying quite a lot in a Cesna but one of his ' to do before I die' wishes is to fly a Spitfire. I must go up in the Cesna with him one day as he keeps offering but I prefer my feet on Terra Firma TBH. Not sure who takes the credit for this pic but I bet he was mighty pleased with it... ;D
