Has anybody got any experiance of using a DIY Plate Stripping Kit for chrome?, I'm thinking of getting one from "Frost" but I want to know if it's worth the notes. Basicly I've got loads of little brackets on the Hotrod and some suspension bits which will need stripping and then I'll either have them replated or satin black them. I'm not going to just sand them as it's a pain getting flecs of chrome plate out of your skin and you don't get a good finish on the new plating. www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8978

Didn't even know that such a thing existed! When I de-chromed the Benz grille I just used an angle grinder with a sander attachment (!). It had been pretty bent up in an accident so I didn't mind too much if I farked it up but it came out OK ;D I'm sure you'll be wanting to employ slightly less aggressive methods with your hot rods shiny bits though!

Yeah some of the bits are unique but it's mostly cos I've got loads of fidely bits and I reckon it will be much easier to drop them all in a tank of Chemicals and leave them to dechrome themselves ;D Not that I'm a lazy git or anything!

I'll P.M you when I've worked out which bits need doing. by the way did you still want those split rim centers I picked up? I don't think I'll be doing much with them and I could do with the extra space.
