this time I've been playing with the capri exhaust. I put a stock 2.8 system on my janspeed headers a long time ago, "just to tide me over" (heard that one before :.
any way, at this years mot, it was noted that there was something terminally wrong with my exhaust. the baffles had broken up (I knew this 'cos I [and everyone else] could hear them), the baffles were turning inside the box, and cutting off most of the exhaust flow. this was interesting to drive, to say the least. you'd be driving along at a steady speed and suddenly you'd start to slow down, like someone had applied the brakes . decided to get a sportex system like my fellow old schooler, christian has got, and this weekend I fitted it. had to use some modified standard headers, because my janspeeds were getting badly pinholed.
now its loud and proud, heres the pics (wish you could hear it, its the sex ;D)
how the tail section looks
these 2 pics show what was done to modify the headers, the 13" piece of pipe
also done today, the hard line for the overflow catch can. the rubber one kept falling onto the exhaust manifold and melting in two
here the capri is having the mixture adjusted from 0.14% co (at time of mot), now is comfortable at 3.4%. and thats newmember, space kadett, on the left in overalls with his back toward me
and to finish, heres a pic of my light display ;D as I made my cibies work properly (dodgy switch)
enjoy
