I'm just looking around for an insurance quote and found this in the small print on the AA site
Explanation of Fault regarding a claim
Fault claim You are considered to be at fault where you or your insurance company cannot recover costs for an accident:
:that you caused :where the other person denies responsibility :where the other person cannot be traced [glow=red,2,300]:where the other person was not insured [/glow]
So if I'm hit by traveller dole scum in a stolen mondeo with bald tyres, a driving ban and no brakes whilst talking to his dealer on a mobile and shouting at his twelve kids; as long as he's not insured it's my fault WTF! How does that last point make it my fault?

It would seem that be the definition of the term at fault, only the top one is in fact your fault. The others are just their way of clawing back your NCB! I like number two. The other party denies responsibility, like who wouldn't - in fact insurance companies insist you DON"T admit respomsibility at an accident scene. They love to take your money, but hate to actually pony up when needed. (sound of p**s boiling)

That sucks! It isnt your fault if some traveller scumbag runs into you after 12 cans of special brew, so how can you be at fault? The second point seems a bit dodgy also, the insurance company seems to want to do anything it can to worm out of paying up.. And also point 1, if the other person denies responsibility, its your fault? So don't be driving near any liars/travellers/people who are likely to disappear. Or even better, at all. hmm.

Insurance companies are scubags that'll do anything to get out of paying out on a claim. I think that kind of thing is pretty much standard throughout the insurance world... is that fully comp?!

Whoa!
Is this across 'the board' if so this is going to cause some problems!
Then again as always if hit by uninsurred driver you've had to 'claim' of own policy.
But to say "YOU FAULT" is totally wrong wording!
Very worring!

i think i can explain this a little:accidents: :that you caused -fair do's
:where the other person denies responsibility -most decent insurance companies will fight your corner, but if the other person lies its your word against theirs.
:where the other person cannot be traced -hit and run,not much you can do,if you didnt take details at the scene ,who do your insurers claim the money back from?
:where the other person was not insured -good case for legal protection, you may not be able to claim against traveller scum, but you can now at least sue the 4rses off em.
to enable your insurance to list the fault against some one they need to know who that someone is.if they cannot blame someone, its not 'your fault' but better put as 'guilty party unknown'

Ha Ha, the Post office quoted £404.00 through one of these online quote companys and when I declared the lowered supension and alloy wheels it went up to £678.36 ;D almost too funny to get angry about. Thats fully comp for a 29 year male with full no claims discount and one accident in the last 5 years, parked on my drive. (1989 BMW 735i auto)

if an insurance company pays out and has no way of getting their money back - it's a claim on your policy. It's clased as a 'fault' claim as your insurer paid out, even tho it's not your fault. Theft claim - fault claim - no third party at fault to claim from.

It's just terminology, the only problem is that it is insulting and misleading terminology. I found this in the small print on my insurants a couple of years back.
I'm not a fan of insurants companies at all so it's somewhat hard to hold back the ill considered shoutiness that my feelings demand ;D

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Was that 'fully comp' BTW?
I'm keen to try Direct Line although the may not support my mods/needs.

Try ringing this chappie off VZi Nidge Towergate Insurance Tel 01493 856556 - he did me a cracking deal. Having said that, I'm sure that there are a load of people very happy with Direct Line, they just didn't have the knowledge or flexibility to deal with the sort of car related lifestyle I like to lead

^ Last time i saw his avatar message, i'm sure it said 'I don't do insurance'! then i'm not a VZI regular at all... Direct line just seems a well thought out service for normal cars, and now i'm old enough for them to offer me something i might aswell try em although i'll be best off with a specialist like footman james, roadsure, or flux.

I got knocked off my motorbike by a car driver who then sped off. Of course, it was 'my fault' according to the insurance. I could wll have been killed in the incident, it was not pleasant to then be informed that it was my fault as the bloke drove off. The worst of it was, prior to riding a bike, I had full no claims with car insurance, which can't be transferred to bikes, but when I had a claim on the bike then wanted to insure a car, oh yes, it counts! You get stiched up for cash either way. It sucks. You work hard, try and be honest, but you still get kicked.

By the way when you google for "retro insurance" and have it on "image" by mistake you get mrsigmas sigma and Benzboys rant about traders policys ;D

I've got experience of the 2nd one, where the other party denies liability. Last year, some ageing chavette attempted to take the front end off my Octavia with a Toyota Yaris. She claimed I pulled out in front of her, yet I was stationary at the time. In the end, my insurers decided not to fight my corner, rolled over and payed up (Gee, thanks guys!). It hasn't affected me 'cos I've got protected no-claims, but on principle I'm going elsewhere next time as I didn't even claim for the damage to my car (which amounted to a cracked numberplate). Oh yeah, there was £2000+ damage to the Yaris!!

I'm going to be looking for new insurance soon, NUD want 400 quid for the Sprint - any other suggestions?
Adrian Flux laffed at me when I told them that's what their renewal quote was too, probably quite rightly so.....they couldn't touch it ;D

Insurance companies are scubags that'll do anything to get out of paying out on a claim. I need say nothing more about the shitters in the insurance world. I've been on the recieving end when they failed to pay up for my legit claim. If I ever meet anyone working in insurance down the pub I'll ***** the ******* and **** their girlfriend. Maybe worse. Edit: probably
