I don't think i've encountered these before!! They look soooooo purposeful!!
Something about the way its hunched up over the back wheels reminds me of a slingshot dragster.

Awesome! I must admit to having never heard of these, the shame!
Is Octane good then? I see it on the shelves when I buy retro cars, but never looked at it .

The bloke who put full carpet in that blue one is a bit keen! These were very uncivilised cars, definitely designed for race use only. The seats are directly above the rear axle, which is stiffly suspended so you feel every bump straight up your spine. Also, the exhausts had a habit of cooking the driver's legs, and there was a lot of heat generally coming through the firewall. The whole car was basically a huge compromise to produce a mid-engined racer using only existing GM drivetrain components, which meant a Corvette box and a live axle separated by a tailshaft less than a foot long. Awesome racing cars, definitely, but for my big-budget V8 reproduction racer, I'd have a Lola T70! The engine is behind you so you can listen to the induction roar mere inches from your ears without fear of burning your leg on the exhausts. Excellent! I'd have mine in roadster flavour, from the Gardner Douglas kit car: The kits use a Porsche G50 transaxle and they're usually set up for small-block Chevs. The only problem is choosing between a traditional small-block on quad webers and an LS-series injected motor. Perhaps an LS7 on quad webers would be the best compromise! ;D

Imagine Evo for classics. I think it's superb. Spot on. I did one of those 3 for £1 trials on both Evo and Octane last year. Twas Octane that got me most excited. Really is a good read and one I'll take more regularly when I've got a bit more disposable income. Love this Cheetah n' all.

Actually, Cheetahs rarely ever won anything on the race track. And Chevy had an experimental Corvette racing program headed by Arkus-Duntov if GM brass had given the go-ahead nod (Corvette Grand Sport). This, the Cheetah, was entirely a private effort.

Of course it's not from experience, there are probably about 5 drivable cars in the world! I've read a fair bit about them but it was long ago now. I've been getting deeper and deeper into the Air-cooled VWs for the last two years now, obviously for long enough to even forget that Corvettes had IRS! Being ancient and American I assumed that they must have just run a live axle.
