Snapped while out at lunch! One old lady owner check standard brown color - check never restored - check daily driver - check It just looked so great when she got out, locked it up and toddled off! The modern "minders" on either side set it right off.

Nice! (never ever thought I'd say that about an Allegro!)
Old Lady patina can't be beat.
I bought my Cortina off the guy who'd bout it when it was 3 months old. The guy who bought it new took it back as it was too big and traded it for an Escort! Similar one with a Victor Estate I had. The guy bought it as a dealer demonstartor.
Getting harder to find like that.

Nice action shot 104ZS!
I think we’re coming towards the end of a golden era of low mileage ‘one elderly owner from new’ cars – the cars that are lucky enough to go into long-term ownership tend to last for 20-30 years before the owner either hangs up their driving gloves soon or, sadly, dies. I’ve noticed more and more 1980’s stuff which fits this bill on eBay.

I imagine there will be a few mint early 1990s Rover 214's, Protons and Honda Civics by the end of this decade.

long-term ownership will just move foward. old people still tend to buy a car before they retire and then just keep it until they stop driving. my white skoda is a 23k one owner from new car that was sold simply because of a mid-life crisis involving a Honda S2000

But do older people still buy a car for retirement? As retired people seem to be getting more youthful in their outlook, don't they change cars just as regularly as before?

I suppose it depends on how much money they've got. Most people who change cars every three or four years have them on HP or personal contract plans, and you need a regular income for that. Suppose it depends on whether they've got a good private/employer pension or not.
