Dude, you only mention the rarest ones! 410, 510, 610 and 710 (all bluebirds, why?)... of course they're more expensive! How dare you call a 710 a bluebird! It's a Violet, I'll have you know! Most of the pricey Datsun models (coupes and SSS mostly) are down to single figures when counting roadworthy examples. Thet's why they are expensive. I would think most early 70's models would also attract higer prices with the possible exception of the E10 Cherry (not incl the rare coupe). Big Datsuns never seem to attract really high prices, probably because they are slightly less practical to own in comparison to the small saloons. To be honest, I haven't really observed any continued rise in prices over the last couple of years. They seemed to have levelled out somewhat. You do see the odd one with a mental price but I'd be very surprised if any actually sell for that sort of money.

What's with the proliferation of the use of the term 'J-tin', presumably to describe cars of a Japanese design/manufacture?
Is it an OK thing to say? I'm not sure I like it..
*not having a dig, just an observation..
Back OT, for what it's worth I think eBay adds to / exaggerates the appearance of inflating prices.

Yeah but, everythings more expensive. Are we just showing our age? If you think about it, part of the reason for the rise of the custom retro scene is to make something cool out of something that is generally percived as un cool (like a slammed lada). Retro goes in and out of fashion, just as eco fiendly and gass guzzlers do. It's just stuff - if the in and cool cars cost money, it's only becasue the retro scene has made them cool and desirable. Turn it on it's head again and lets all buy shitboxes and slam them.

I'm not sure I like it.. *not having a dig, just an observation.. Its generally accepted that "J" is just short for Japanese on here (also the swear filter removes the horridly offensive "j*p" term and turns it to "J") Just like Brit-tin. Its just a word we use instead of having to type "Japanese cars" everytime

Bah! You want to see an expensive Japanese car try finding a Laurel SGX Coupe or C10 Skyline, or a C110 Skyline coupe for "reasonable" money in their homeland. Desirable cars demand high prices. The original car posted in the thread isn't worth that though... be interesting to know if/when it gets sold what it sells for.
Also Dealer prices.

theres no point moaning about market forces, if desirable cars didn't fetch more money no one would bother making them in the first place and we'd all be driving around in identical econo boxes.

why is J*p horridly offensive? I thought it was just short for japanese? Because, like Paki, Nep, Chinese etc, it is found to be offensive to those it's describing. The forum has been over this a few times and it has been established that it is not acceptable.

not arguing the point but i had never heard it was considered offensive until i joined up here, i just used the word the same way i say "Brit" or "yank" lifes to confusing ya know, one year your not allowed to say black you have to say coloured and then all of a sudden its back to black again, to much pc rubbish these days, and to many people who care what other people think, call me what ya like, your opinion means booger all to me but I'm happy for you to have one.

nI just used the word the same way I say "Brit" or "yank" True a lot of people do, but some people don't, so rather than have to work out what people were implying each time it is used I just chose to shorten it, makes life easier for me, and it isn't really a big thing, so don't loose sleep over it.
